We were honored to co-host the Building Action Coalition Summit with the City of Santa Monica and The Enniscorthy International Forum earlier this month. It was an inspiring event that brought together a diverse group of stakeholders all committed to driving action on decarbonizing the built environment. Here are 5 key takeaways that resonated with us: 1. ?????? Community collaboration is key: change happens at the community level. Collaboration among governments, organizations, and communities will drive innovation and accelerate progress. 2. ?? Buildings are at the heart of change: They are responsible for a massive 37% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Decarbonizing buildings will be crucial to create sustainable communities. 3. ? Speed and scale matter: To ensure a swift transformation, we need to accelerate policy and regulation at all levels—top-down and bottom-up. 4. ?? High-performance buildings for all: We need global standards for high-performance buildings that prioritize decarbonization, but also consider social justice and community health. 5. ?? Financing the transition: innovative financial models like green equity financing will be crucial to attract capital for large-scale decarbonization efforts. These are highlights from just a few of the many discussions at the summit. We're feeling optimistic about the future of sustainable buildings and their role in creating a more resilient and equitable world! #BuildingAction #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Decarbonization #Community

Thank you, CivicWell, for this wonderful feature! ?? Since the project's launch in 2016, TEC and our partners have placed the community at the center of the BAAEC's project design. By incorporating a range of design practices (#cleanenergytech, #financing, #businessmodels, #policyconsiderations, and a #holistic view of community transformation), the project has identified best practices?to support equitable energy transition for low-income single-family homes.

Keynoting the #CABEC conference this morning was an honor. Equally amazing was to run into Scott Kelly, who 15 years ago during the ARRA funding days, became a BPI contractor through a program I worked on. There were only 2 BPI companies in California at the time. Rola Halawanji launched the largest green jobs program in the US, hired me to help as one of my first jobs in energy, and we organized the Clean Energy Workforce Training Program (CEWTP) at LBCC. The program was Panama Bartholomy 's brainchild across California. To see the program's lasting impact, and Scott still as a leader on the cutting edge of the industry, now giving me new insights to decarbonization....well nothing tops that. Thanks for the invite Ruby Rose "Energy Smart Mama" and the board at CABEC. Earlier this month, we had the privilege of connecting with West Hollywood residents at a community event. Hearing their stories and perspectives on climate action and energy savings was truly inspiring! We’re excited to be helping West Hollywood put community input at the core of their equitable building performance standard, which will make WeHo buildings more affordable and healthy places to live, work, and play. Thank you to Ari Simon, Christine Shen, K Karba, Emily Rotman, and City of West Hollywood for making this event possible. #EBPS #CommunityEngagement #ClimateAction
