Our mission: Control and eliminate the most prevalent neglected diseases (NTDs)

关于我们

The END Fund is a leading collaborative philanthropic fund dedicated to ending neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) that limit the lives and livelihoods of 1.7 billion people globally. Through our partners, we support country-led programs that control and eliminate intestinal worms, schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis, river blindness, trachoma, and visceral leishmaniasis. We efficiently put private capital to work in support of NTD programs that are innovative, integrated, cost-effective, and sustainable. By facilitating strong partnerships with governments, private sector, multilateral organizations, and local program partners, we collaboratively support national disease programs that improve the well-being of communities.

The Sustainable Development Goals lay out an ambitious roadmap for the world we want by 2030. Catch Sam Mayer, Vice President of Global Strategic Partnerships at the END Fund, as we speaks at "Health and Nutrition Integration," focusing primarily on health & nutrition integration, considering how healthcare systems can provide effective infrastructure for layering different nutrition interventions. The session includes a discussion of the role that philanthropy can play in encouraging this kind of service integration by taking a systems change, cross-sector approach. But without tackling malnutrition, many of these goals remain out of reach. On the margins of the Nutrition for Growth Summit, ‘Nourishing Sustainable Development Through Multisectoral Philanthropic Action’ will bring together philanthropic leaders working to #NourishtheGoals. What is 'big bet philanthropy'? Big Bet Philanthropy is a philanthropic approach where donors make large, strategic investments in initiatives aimed at addressing major social, environmental, or global challenges. Instead of spreading funds across many smaller projects, big bet philanthropy focuses on high-impact, transformative goals that require significant financial backing to achieve measurable change. In a recent article by Stanford Social Innovation Review, the END Fund's granting model was praised for its "comprehensive approach to assessing and strengthening its partners’ internal operations over time." By adding award budgets for expenditures related to internal operations, the END Fund helps partners sustainably and efficiently scale up. Live from #CSW69! I’m thrilled to be attending this session to hear from Dr. Kelly Zongo, PhD, MPH, a WomenLift Health North America 2025 cohort member, at "Empower Her: Women and the Future of Work," hosted by Vivacity Development. "[We need to be] focusing on the structural barriers—understanding what is holding women back from excelling. And we need to be disrupting. Sometimes things need to be broken and rebuilt in the right way. Let us break the structures that are holding women back." - A powerful call to action from Kelly. As the global health field navigates the challenges and opportunities of an evolving workforce, speakers emphasized the importance of fighting for training and career advancement opportunities for women and girls, as well as the importance of cultural awareness in thinking about the future of the workforce and digital innovation. Thank you to event organizers and speakers for a powerful conversation about shaping a future where women are equipped, supported, and empowered to thrive. #EmpowerHer #WomenInLeadership

Sylvia Razanaparana stands tall and proud as she moves through her rice field, located in the Ambanja region of northern Madagascar, with a quiet determination. Rice production is the lifeblood that provides for her 9-year-old son, Silvio, who she is raising single-handedly. But within the waters of her rice fields, there remained an unseen threat to her health. For years, Sylvia Razanaparana endured persistent genital pain, irregular bleeding, and excruciating itching. She suffered from female genital schistosomiasis, a parasitic disease lurking in the contaminated water of her Madagascar rice paddy fields. Sylvia’s symptoms are all too common. Women and children across Madagascar frequently suffer from blood in their urine, a classic symptom of schistosomiasis, but can also be easily misdiagnosed as cervical cancer or sexually transmitted diseases. After four years of enduring symptoms, an answer to her suffering was found when a medical mission from the Malagasy capital, Antananarivo, came to her village. Within minutes, a doctor diagnosed Sylvia’s condition as female genital schistosomiasis. All Sylvia needed was a deworming treatment to rid her body of the parasitic disease. The Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC) 2025 was a remarkable opportunity to learn more about the innovations and commitments being undertaken to eliminating neglected tropical diseases through innovative financing strategies as well as our commitment to ethical storytelling. The END Fund Vice President of Investor Relations, Mireille Mather, alongside Arielle D. and Gates Foundation participated in a panel session titled Escaping Neglect: Accelerating the Elimination of NTDs through Adaptive Financing Strategies. They shared key success factors that have enabled the END Fund to support countries reach critical elimination milestones. With evolving funding dynamics, Mireille emphasized the pressing need to prioritize health investments. A compelling discussion emerged around the power of language in shaping action. Reframing neglected tropical diseases as “priority diseases for elimination” can help drive funding opportunities and policy dialogues. Senior Associate Director Yusuf A. and Associate Vice President of Communications Victoria Miguda, MPRSK, MSc also participated in a panel session titled From Ethics to Equity: Ethical Storytelling as a Catalyst for Improving Health Outcomes that was convened by NNN Communications Working Group. The panel conversation revolved around commitment to ethical storytelling, centering lived experiences, putting rights-holders in the driver’s seat, tackling bias and building storytelling capacity in affected communities. The Fly Collectors documentary film (produced with the support of Reaching the Last Mile) was screened at the end of the session. The film showcases how scientific information and community-lived experiences can be integrated to communicate stories in an ethical and dignified manner.
