This post is about the importance of Peer to Peer feedback … This past weekend my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the beautiful “The Ellison, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel” in OK City. I had some excellent interactions with their staff. I wanted to make sure that I share them with the GM, Blane Thompson and DOS, Carrie Parker. Here is what I wrote to them. The night audit associate – “Sayah” was beyond exceptional. On the Saturday night, during very heavy rains, in the middle of heavy thunderstorms and a possibility of tornadoes, she was calm and collected and very efficiently handled the guests in the shelter, gave them water and sheets. It was cold and all the guests including us ran down in our pajamas. It was such a good feeling to see her warm genuine concern for all of us in the lobby & the shelter area. I must commend on how well she was trained and the pride she took in her job. She was courteous and very caring. She was calm through & through and never lost control or showed anxiety or impatience. Very commendable ! The second young lady at the breakfast was also very friendly, warm and had a nice smiley face. Her name was “Rinn” She served us proudly and mentioned that she had left the hotel past midnight last night and had to come back early in the morning only to find out that her other help had called off or was coming in later. She served with grace, chatting away with other guests and very efficiently doing her job. She was by herself welcoming and seating all guests and then bussing many tables while being attentive to everyone’s needs. Very Commendable ! I shared these experiences with them and my team here at the Marriott Tulsa Hotel Southern Hills emphasizing that it does make a difference on how our team serves or interacts with the guests when no one is watching. This is integrity in action. I am sure that they took pride at work, and they knew that they are such an integral part of a good supportive team under an excellent leadership. Kudos to them all ! I requested the leadership that they be recognized in their daily huddles. I let them know that they are doing something good nearing perfection. The service attitude, patience and attention to detail says it all. The hotel is beautiful and this amazing experience made it a perfect weekend getaway. A “Big Thank you “to all of you at The Ellison - OK City ! The importance of this feedback & communication is to simply thank and recognize our own peers in the industry and spur the importance of caring and service in hospitality especially to those who stand out in delivering just that. The idea is to learn from eachother, empower our employees & emulate great leadership traits to indulge in and motivate everyone at our own work place.
