The Dyslexia Alliance for Black Children (DABC) was created to increase awareness of dyslexia and related learning disabilities, promote early identification, and increase access to research-based intervention for Black children. Black children are disproportionately impacted by the negative effects of dyslexia resulting in academic failure, low self-esteem, and decreased quality of life participation. We are parents, educators, and allies driven by the urgent call to address the double disparity of dyslexia and race.

A program that provides ongoing support for families as they develop at-home tutoring skills fit for their child’s unique needs? The DABC is thrilled to share that a cohort of 8 parents/caregivers joined our inaugural Families-as-Tutors program on November 13th! Covering topics such as at-home assessments and structured literacy, families are given a variety of resources and tools to best support their child.
