Great crowd today at PMTA Safety day. It’s great to see safety leadership take the time to improve, share, and continue to focus on the safety of their drivers and all that share the road with them. Privileged to be speaking with one of our customers on the benefits they have seen with SpeedGauge and the reduction of speeding they have seen in their fleet Thank you, John and Mustang Expediting #speedgauge #pmta #mustangexpediting

We're back with more of SpeedGauge Secrets, where we share what goes into providing the most accurate and reliable data in the industry! How we improve telematics data Each telematics observation we ingest from our 90+ telematics provider integrations, billions in total, gets individually processed and reviewed by our systems. Duplications (a prevalent problem for many telematics providers) are removed, nonsensical vehicle positions are discarded, and low-quality data points are flagged, to create a standardized and harmonized uniform input stream for further processing. How we prepare map data Digital map data sets are enormous and the computational processes to reduce this data for high-speed efficient processing are complex. This is compounded by the fact that underlying maps are frequently revised and updated which has required SpeedGauge/DDN to develop a custom change-management process that can transition one map edition to the next even as the underlying map references change. Each quarter we must run this custom process, consuming several weeks of CPU time, to recompile maps, account for vendor catch-up to our own edits, and manage the transition of our edits from one base map to another. Then we must run thorough testing to check potential process errors which often occur due to changing map vendor distribution parameters. Join us next time, as we highlight the key factors involved in how we chose the best speed limits.

Great advice!

Week 20 Consistency is indeed key when coaching drivers to change their behavior. By consistently monitoring and addressing the behavior of drivers with the highest frequency of speeding, you can focus your efforts where they will have the greatest impact on reducing risk. By focusing on the top 10-20% of drivers with the highest frequency of speeding incidents, you can efficiently manage risk across your fleet. This approach allows you to encourage improvement in those drivers and maintain operational efficiency in managing other aspects of fleet safety and performance. Consistency in approach not only helps in identifying and addressing high-risk behavior but also ensures fairness and transparency in your coaching and monitoring efforts. Keep up the great work in promoting safe driving practices across your fleet! Comments are always welcome, please like, share, and follow if you feel the information is helpful.
