Across the federal government, agencies have been ordered to scrub photographic and written references about women, people of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community from their websites in order to please the bigots and misogynists in the Trump administration. "If you erase the memory, we really forget the people," said Alessio Ponzio, whose research focuses on LGBTQ history and women's studies and is a visiting professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland. "It's an act of violence that is very subtle but can really destroy the psychology of people. Basically, 'I'm telling you that I do not recognize you.'" FACT: Trump has fired more veterans than any President in American history ?? Jacob Bushno has spent his entire adult life serving his country. He enlisted in the military straight out of high school. After two tours in Iraq as part of the Army’s air assault division, he transitioned into civilian service in the federal workforce. Last month, just seven days before finishing his one-year probationary period with the U.S. Forest Service, he was abruptly fired. This week, he was rehired. Like many of the thousands of federal workers caught in the crosshairs of Trump’s reckless and cruel efforts to shrink the federal workforce, Bushno has spent the last few weeks frustrated and confused. But as a veteran, he views his treatment by the new Administration with a different lens. “I feel very betrayed. All I’ve done my whole life since getting out of high school was serve this country,” says Bushno, 40, who worked in the Shawnee National Forest in Illinois. “I feel like, who's fighting for me, you know?” Read more here: https://bit.ly/4c1O0rp #TraitorTrump

AOC and Bernie finished off the first leg of their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour Saturday — as 23,000 people showed up to rally in Tucson, AZ. In total, the five high-energy events had more than 86,000 people turn out. In fact, Denver’s rally was the largest held in the city since 2008. “We need to be taxing the rich on the floor of the United States Congress,” AOC told the roaring crowd. “And we're going to send a message to Donald Trump and Elon Musk, and every Republican in the state of Arizona, that we will not be distracted. We got our eyes on the prize, and we will build the nation that we want for ourselves.” Sanders slammed Trump, saying: “We don't want a king in the United States, we overthrew our king. We want a vibrant democracy, not all power resting in the hands of one person.”

  • A fantastic quote from the youngest woman ever elected to Congress ?? “We have inherited an unfair world. We have inherited a world where prior generations of leadership have set the table so that companies get richer and richer, and people's incomes stay the same or get even lower. I refuse to leave an unfair world to generations to come. We will make sure that we leave a different world. One where people can work 40 hours a week, put food on the table, afford their housing, and live a decent life. And if people want to call me “extreme” for believing that? Bring it on. If you want to call me “extreme” for thinking any person should have rights over their body? Bring it on. If you want to call me “extreme” for acknowledging the Congressional Budget Office assessment that immigrants brought in trillions of dollars in U.S. revenue and paid more taxes than Elon Musk or these other folks? Bring it on. We have nothing to fear. There is nothing to fear in moving forward into a better future.” - Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez #ResistTrump

  • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders continued their joint “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, with stops in Colorado yesterday. They were welcomed by 11,000 people in Greeley, and more than 34,000 people in Denver. AOC slammed GOP Rep. Gabe Evans, saying: “Do you know which Coloradans did vote to cut medicare and jack up health care costs? Every single Republican representative from Colorado. Don't you worry, I was just at Gabe Evans' district, and 11,000 of his constituents would like a word with him.” Sanders had a pointed message for Trump: “Turn off Fox TV and take a few moments to read the Constitution of the United States.” Sanders also said of Trump’s attacks on media outlets that refuse to “fawn” over him: “If you cannot take the criticism, get the hell out of politics.” Folks from every political angle are angry, and the message uniting them all is undeniable: Billionaires should not be running our government, and they must be held accountable for their illegal acts.
