Have you ever been empowered to do something you love by someone who loves you? 🎶 During class, Zeke shared his music goals with Artist Mentor Riley. Inspired by the conversation, Riley offered him free one-on-one studio time in exchange for maintaining good grades. 💫 Now, Zeke has officially signed a deal with us! So proud of Riley's leadership, and excited to empower & encourage Zeke as he works toward achieving his goals! ‼️❤️🔥

🚨 BizPod Update! 🚨 In June, we kicked off video production mentoring inside East Mesa Juvenile Hall. 🎥 Just three months later, six students are mastering the art of capturing powerful photos and videos to tell their stories of transformation. 💪🏽 BizPod is equipping them with the skills they need to create and shape a better future. 💫

Students passionate about visual art have found a soul mate in Biz-Pod-graduate-turned-staff-member Elisa Cruz as she expands the DHF Digital Art Program. Flexing some serious talent, Ellie created these amazing print pieces for our studio. Wow! A perfect addition to a space dedicated to helping underserved youth unlock all their incredible potential. “These pieces are all about blending worlds in a way that just feels real. Took my iPad, mixed up digital photos and art layers on Procreate, and tried to make something that slays but also says something. It’s a shoutout to the artist mentors who pour so much into their work and the young creators they’re lifting up. Riley’s journey with us began while he was incarcerated at East Mesa. Pursuing his passion for music through our Beats Behind the Wall program he formed deep relationships with DHF mentors and gained a renewed sense of purpose both personally and professionally. Now back at David’s Harp as an Artist-Mentor himself, Riley is using his skills and passion to help young people tap into their creativity and overcome life's challenges. The DHF team welcomed state legislators from across the country 🇺🇲 to witness how mentorship through music and media production is transforming the lives of underserved youth. Artist-mentors led our guests in hands-on beat-making sessions 🎵 while Biz Pod youth showcased their professional portfolios and snapped fresh headshots for social profiles 📸 Legislators left inspired by the David’s Harp community, and energized with a vision of how our model can be replicated to support justice-involved youth in their own states. Fun fact: We were today years old when we learned that there are actually only 46 states—the other 4 are commonwealths 🤔!
