I would like to share that over the course of the Spring semester, I have completed my internship as a Public Policy Clerk at the The Daschle Group. I would like to thank my boss Charlie P., for wonderful guidance and assistance in this position. Under his leadership, I was able to expand my understanding of private-sector engagement in relations to the government and refined my memo capabilities. I would also like to thank my co-interns Cameron Mays and Grace Teeters, for providing amazing advice and assistance throughout my time at the Daschle Group. I would also like to thank former Senate majority Leader Tom Daschle for being an incredible mentor, providing sage advice and wisdom to the new generation of politicians and policymakers. His passion for public service and care for helping the American people is something I will always carry with me no matter where my future career may take me. I am proud to state I have learned more about the health care and public health, as I worked closely with the Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC alongside our clients, where I assisted on projects relating to Covid-19, influenza, and HIV. Other interest areas I was able to learn about was the geopolitical situations involving China, psychedelics as a frontier treatment for people suffering from mental illnesses, cannabis, and labor. My understanding of Congressional hearings and the purpose they serve in educating the American public and providing a transparent measure for interest group was greatly defined over the course of these months. I got fairly acquainted with the variety of Congressional Committees and Subcommittees offered, especially those on education, labor, health care, and imports and exports. Thank you to the whole Daschle Group Team for the warm welcome, their kindness, and the mentorship they were able to provide. I truly appreciate the value of my time at the Daschle Group and look forward to where I will go next.

After Election Day, TDG President and COO Nathan Daschle appeared on NewsNation’s "Morning in America" alongside Markie Martin and Blake Burman to discuss the results of the 2024 Presidential Election. Nathan emphasized the necessity for Democrats to shift their focus back to important everyday “kitchen table” issues and to reevaluate the Democratic coalition in light of the rightward shift observed in many key constituency groups.
