As the world awakens to the first day of spring, we celebrate rebirth—much like Salvador Dalí's transformative year of 1929, when he completed this painting, "The First Days of Spring." In this dreamlike work, Dalí explores the hidden depths of the unconscious, using symbols of sexuality and desire to challenge societal norms. This pivotal year was also when Dalí created the groundbreaking film "Un Chien Andalou," joined the Surrealist group and met his muse, Gala. These "firsts" ignited a new creative spirit in Dalí—a surreal rebirth. ??? The First Days of Spring (1929), Salvador Dalí

On this #InternationalWomensDay, we're thinking about the extraordinary Gala Dalí, the enigmatic muse who shaped Salvador Dalí's art & his very existence. Gala was more than just a muse; she went on to become Dalí's business manager, handling negotiations with patrons and galleries and ensuring his work was brought to life. Today, we celebrate the infinite influence of women like Gala, whose presence illuminated the surreal canvas. ?? ?? ??: Horst P. Horst, Portrait of Gala (1961)
