关于我们
The Barnes Family started DAISY in 1999 to say a profound thank you to nurses for the extraordinary skill and compassion they provide patients and families every day. Our experience with nurses during son Patrick Barnes' eight week hospitalization showed us that direct care nurses do super-human work that is rarely recognized. We had no idea that today, more than 5,000 healthcare facilities and schools of nursing in all 50 states and 32 other countries and territories would honor their nurses all year long with The DAISY Award. Over 2,100,000 nominations have been written, describing how a nurse has impacted a patient or family. Clearly, the Barnes Family are not the only people compelled to say thank you to nurses! The strategic value of this kind of meaningful recognition is now being proven in research study after study. Impacts include contribution to a healthy work environment, nurse satisfaction, compassion satisfaction, patient satisfaction, and cultural transformation. It's remarkable what happens when a healthcare organization focuses some attention on all the good that's going on. We also honor nursing students with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students and nursing faculty with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty. Through our J. Patrick Barnes Grants, we support nursing research and EBP projects with grants to nurses.

Kaitlyn was nominated for The DAISY Award not just for one moment but for all the little ones that make her the incredible nurse she is. During a holiday weekend night shift, Kaitlyn showed a level of care that I will never forget. After a patient passed, she and a colleague cleaned him up, combed his hair, and positioned him with dignity. Most importantly, she untucked his hands—so his family could hold them one last time. It’s one thing to fight for life, but it takes a deeper kind of love and respect to care for someone after they’ve passed. That’s who Kaitlyn is. She has integrity and a heart bigger than words can describe. Congratulations, Kaitlyn! Thank you for all you did for your patient and their family. Help us celebrate Kaitlyn by leaving a comment. We are thrilled to announce that The TruMerit (CGFNS) DAISY Award for Outstanding International Nurse Recruiter was presented to two incredible international nurse leaders: Jocelyn Musni, the Chief Clinical Officer at Alere Care Solutions in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Dr. Ijeoma Enweana, a Nursing Administrator and Educator at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. Both Honorees are registered nurses and were recognized for their commitment to helping foreign-educated nurses cope with the challenges they face as they navigate their way to employment in the U.S. healthcare system. They were selected from among 30 nominees for this year’s award. Musni, who was born in the Philippines and received her nursing education in the U.S., is noted for her dedication to shaping a fair and supportive pathway for foreign-educated nurses that enables them to thrive in the workplace and contribute to uplifting the healthcare systems they join. She has been credited for using her experience with migration to ensure nurses feel valued, prepared, and supported in their transition to the U.S. About half of immigrants seeking visas to work as nurses in the U.S. are from the Philippines. Her employer, Alere Care Solutions, specializes in recruiting international healthcare staff for U.S. employers and is a Certified Ethical Recruiter through the CGFNS Alliance for Ethical International Recruitment Practices. Enweana, with more than 15 years of nursing experience and a doctorate of nursing practice (DNP), is known for her leadership in nursing operations, staff mentorship, and nursing education, particularly in developing innovative training programs for international nurses within her organization and at staffing companies. In her position at Atrium Health, she has played a pivotal role in developing a transition-to-practice program for immigrant nurses, significantly improving their adaptation to the U.S. healthcare system and increasing retention rates by 90%. Her nomination received strong support from nurse immigrants she has helped along the way. Congratulations to Jocelyn and Dr. Ijeoma!

Shaquanna Johnson exemplifies the very essence of compassionate and exceptional nursing care. Recently, she went above and beyond for a terminal breast cancer patient who had a dream of visiting Universal Studios/Disney with her children and grandchildren. Understanding the patient’s physical limitations and the significance of this trip, Shaquanna took it upon herself to make countless phone calls, acting as a dedicated liaison with the park. She arranged parking passes, front-of-the-line access to avoid long waits, and transportation within the park—all to ensure the patient could fully enjoy this meaningful trip with her family. This gesture of care brought immense joy to the patient during a profoundly difficult time in her life. Congratulations, Shaquanna! Thank you for all you do for your patients. Help us celebrate Shaquanna by leaving a comment. Read her nomination story here: https://lnkd.in/e4iKJbMy
