We're a small team of corporate aviation pilots & flight attendants with a combined experience of nearly 40 years in the corporate and private jet industry. Since we began our careers we've always felt the training of especially flight attendants or in-flight service personnel, left too much to be desired. Most corporate aviation flight attendants simply learn by doing. Sometimes it's a short introduction course, sometimes not even that. We know we speak for the majority when we say only few of us felt ready for that first flight and we all wish we had had some form material that could have helped us get through the first 6 months of flying. At the Corporate Flight Attendants Handbook we're all experienced instructors either in flying or in cabin crew services on private and corporate jets. In 2023 we decided to combine our knowledge to try and create something that could at least function as a helping hand or aide-mémoire for both new and experienced business jet flight attendants out there. The result was "The Corporate Flight Attendants Handbook". It's a 150 page book that comes with a separate 14 page checklist. It contains 22 Chapters with subjects such as: First Flight Notification, How to make a plan, What and how to cater for a flight, Ideas to get you started, The day of the flight, Arriving at the aircraft, Receiving the catering, Preparing the cabin, Meet & Greet, The in-flight service, Every step of the flight until disembarking and preparing the aircraft for the next flight, Dietary requirements, Allergies, Food hygiene and safety, Wine familiarisation, Modern coffees, Drinks & Cocktails, Introduction to gourmet foods, Appearance & dress code, Suitcase essentials, Social media etiquette, CRM, How to deal with complaints and several pages with lessons learnt, little tricks and wise words. It really does cover everything you'll need to get through a day on the job.

What is the magic recipe to being a successful Corporate Flight Attendant..? Sorry if we got your hopes up there, we obviously don't have the answer to that question. Personality, passion, attitude and persistence will get you far, but if the food you plate up isn't visually attractive, heated properly, uncontaminated and well tastes good, you probably won't get called for the next flight.. You do not have to be a trained Chef to do the job, but you might benefit from a few tips or a little training from a Chef. Check out your local area for food preparation and equally important, food presentation courses. This is absolutely one of the most obvious areas to stand out when working on private, corporate and business jets. The Corporate Flight Attendant's Handbook Lesson Learnt, Little Tricks & Wise Words - Chapter 21 is one of our favourite parts of the book. The chapter is 7 pages with tips and tricks we've either picked up ourselves along the way or learnt by asking friends and colleagues we've worked with over the years. Things like: Always have enough zip-lock bags and/or clingfilm/plastic wrap to hand. They are both amazing at keeping food fresh, but also to store dirty cutlery, wrap used cups and plates so they're safe for transport. The perfect quick solution to when you're stressed and busy.. Practise & preparation ALWAYS pays off - Do as much as you can on the ground before the flight. If the passengers are delayed why not prepare the cheese board now, fold the napkins, wash the grapes, blueberries, tomatoes and so on.. If you're not sure of how to use the espresso machine to make a cappuccino - Ask the pilots if they'd like to be your guinea pigs and practise on the ground by serving them!
