As we continue to feel the heaviness of divisive rhetoric and attacks, this week is an opportunity to center the trans community and uplift positive, affirming stories that remind us of the beauty of our intersectional community. Though the struggle for equality continues, our community’s courage and commitment to visibility, love, and joy inspire us all. Let’s come together to support, uplift, and learn from one another. Did you know that we offer Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy at the Coping Resource Center? Many of us develop certain fears—whether of heights, tight spaces, spiders, public speaking, or needles—that can sometimes become overwhelming and interfere with daily life. When fears feel unmanageable and hinder our ability to enjoy life, reach goals, or complete everyday tasks, they are often classified as phobias. Fortunately, there’s an effective way to overcome these fears in a safe, controlled setting. Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) offers a promising solution, allowing fears like public speaking and flying to be addressed comfortably within the therapy room. ?? Chronic pain can be particularly difficult to manage and can create unique challenges for those who are on the narcissistic spectrum. Chronic pain refers to pain that lasts longer than usual without a clear physical cause. It affects 20.9% of the US population as reported by the CDC. Apart from the discomfort it brings, chronic pain can also trigger distress like depression, anxiety, and disturbances in sleep patterns. For those with tendencies like self centeredness, entitlement, and a constant need for admiration—or those diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), which significantly impacts their relationships and overall well being — dealing with chronic pain poses unique obstacles. ??
