#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that takes place every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, you can give the gift of solace to women who have survived or are currently surviving through human trafficking by donating to Convergence Resource Center's Solace Support Line (SSL). This warm line allows those affected by human trafficking to connect with trained volunteers who are offering only support and a listening ear. Your generous gift will go towards training new volunteers and extending SSL's hours of operation, ultimately giving women a safe space to confide in someone who cares when they need it most. So, give today and help us let women struggling in silence know, "You are seen, you are heard, and #youarevalued!"

At Convergence Resource Center our idea is to create an environment that will increase availability and reach in the area of economic empowerment while addressing parenting, finance management and self-confidence. Our idea – Solace Offering Sustenance (SOS) will also afford survivors the opportunity help other trafficking survivors. The definition of solace is comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness, alleviation of distress or discomfort. Every survivor we have encountered has expressed a desire to help and support other survivors. As each survivor steps through the program she will be given the opportunity to come along side another survivor and help. Survivors suffer from the traumatic experience long after it’s over. Many of them experience PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) which occurs after someone has had a traumatic experience involving repeated flashbacks and Stockholm Syndrome where they have empathy and/or sympathy for their trafficker. We find that survivors gain strength being around each other. As we provide a way for both of them to heal we fully expect they will find solace in helping each other. Thank you to Alderwoman Larresa Taylor for inviting us to support her at her Pot of Gold: A Reflection of You event this past weekend. Messages of self-love, respect, and worth were poured into middle and high school girls from Milwaukee, as well as information on human trafficking. A truly inspiring event. We look forward to the next one!

This past week we had the privilege of donating children’s blankets to Cathedral Center Inc. What an honor it is to be able to place a smile on our youth’s faces!

Yesterday we had the opportunity to provide CIT training to a group of law enforcement officers. Dr. Lassiter instructed them on how to recognize and interact with survivors of human trafficking. One of many ways we are bringing awareness to the community.
