One Africa! One Nation! Uhuru Book Fair & Flea Market Returns to West Philadelphia’s Clark Park Featuring Award-Winning Author Michael Rice Philadelphia, PA – [September 11, 2024] – The One Africa! One Nation! Uhuru Book Fair & Flea Market (UBFFM) will take place at Clark Park in West Philadelphia, bringing together community members for an empowering day of culture, education, and economic development. This all-day, free event is organized by the African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) and Black Star Industries to support programs for education, health, and self-determination in the African community. Michael Rice, an award-winning social innovator, motivational speaker, and author of the transformational guide Be Magnificent! Exceed Your Expectations, will be a featured guest at the event. Rice, who also publishes and edits The ConnectorLive, a weekly internet video blog on the New Urban Network, will share his insights on community building, achievement, and positive transformation. Free educational resources addressing adult literacy, ESL, and access to reading materials. APEDF has hosted festivals and flea markets in Clark Park for more than 20 years, collaborating with local nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations. This year’s book fair continues their mission to provide solutions to the community’s pressing issues, such as education disparities and economic instability. According to APEDF, over 40% of residents in Philadelphia—where the majority population is African and Puerto Rican—do not have a high school diploma. This contributes to unemployment, poverty, and limited economic opportunities. UBFFM seeks to address these challenges through community-driven programs that promote education, health, and economic self-reliance. EVENT DETAILS ?? Date: [September 14, 2024] ??
