The Concord Center was created by a group of psychologists with a similar vision for treatment. Namely, that quality care is grounded in science and research. As such, all clinicians at the Concord Center use evidence-based treatments including as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

  • We are excited to welcome Dr. Kaya Schmandt, PsyD to our team at The Concord Center! Dr. Kaya Schmandt is a clinical psychologist who treats children, adolescents, and adults with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma disorders, and personality disorders. She has foundational training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), intensive training in DBT prolonged exposure (DBT-PE) for post-traumatic stress disorder, and training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Dr. Schmandt is also a rostered provider of Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), an evidence-based treatment for young children who have experienced trauma or attachment disruptions. ? Dr. Schmandt graduated from Brown University with a ScB in biology. She received her EdM from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in prevention science & practice, with a focus on adolescent counseling. Dr. Schmandt received her PsyD in clinical psychology from William James College. She has experience working with youth and adults across a range of settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and schools. Dr. Schmandt completed her predoctoral internship at Riverbend Community Mental Health, where her training focused on the impacts of childhood trauma across the lifespan. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in the 3East Residential DBT program at McLean Hospital.

    We are excited to welcome Ashley Brown, PhD to our team at The Concord Center as a full-time clinician! Ashley Brown is a licensed psychologist who specializes in working with children and adolescents navigating chronic medical conditions, with a specific emphasis on disorders of gut-brain interaction, functional diagnoses, and adjustment to diagnosis. She has experience collaborating with medical providers and schools to provide comprehensive support for youth and their families. Dr. Brown primarily uses a cognitive behavioral approach (CBT) to intervention and in addition to supporting those with physical symptoms, she is also trained in CBT for mood, anxiety, and related disorders. She earned her PhD in psychology from University of North Carolina Greensboro, where she trained in both community outpatient and hospital-based settings. She completed her pre-doctoral internship as well as her fellowship in pediatric psychology at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Prior to joining The Concord Center, Dr. Brown worked at Brown University Health as a member of the Pediatric Behavioral Consultation and Liaison team, and offered therapeutic intervention in the Psychology Outpatient and Pediatric Gastroenterology clinics.
