One of the first lessons I learned about effective community management (way back in the 2000s) from some of the OG community greats was that "if you build it they will come" does NOT apply to community building. It takes a smart strategy, a shared purpose, a plan for shared value creation, business leaders who understand and invest in strong community management teams (or strong community managers who help leaders understand why they should invest in strong cmgt teams), and a solid understanding of community management best practices and behavioral science. Turns out when you put it all together it's a recipe for success!
