We make the Richmond region a better place through bold solutions and inspired philanthropy. Together, we do more good.
关于我们
The Community Foundation is a leading partner and advocate for philanthropy and service in the Richmond region. Founded in 1968, we have built a strong legacy of helping people and institutions give back with passion and purpose. Together, we have strengthened local nonprofit organizations and enhanced lives throughout our community. By working side by side with a powerful and growing network of changemakers, the Foundation has become the largest community foundation in Virginia and the third largest in the Southeast. Today, we manage more than 1,000 charitable funds with assets totaling $876 million. This includes six supporting foundations that have chosen to fulfill their charitable legacy in partnership with us, as well as three regional affiliates that were established to address the needs and interests of the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck. Since our inception, we have collectively granted $1 billion to thousands of nonprofits working in all areas of community life.

This week, Christina Mastroianni, our Chief Strategy Officer, is representing Richmond at the Economic Mobility Action Network (EMAN) convening, led by CFLeads. Richmond is one of only ten communities selected for this advanced cohort, working to develop an economic mobility agenda that expands pathways to opportunity. Through our partnership with the Community Foundation for a greater Richmond, this work will help us refine workforce metrics, strengthening career pathways and building a more inclusive economy. #EconomicMobility #RVA #ChamberRVA #EMAN #RVARising #WorkforceDevelopment

RVA Rising is a regional collaboration of business, philanthropy, nonprofits, local government, and residents who believe that our region is stronger when we think creatively, work collaboratively, and build opportunities for upward economic mobility and growth. We are proud to partner with organizations like PlanRVA to advocate and celebrate exciting initiatives like this that are furthering this bold goal, with positive impact for organizations and residents alike.
Have you heard of?RVA Rising? PlanRVA is a part of a growing coalition led in partnership with ChamberRVA, Community Foundation for a greater Richmond, Richmond Memorial Health Foundation, and United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg that’s laser focused on building systemic connections to promote economic growth and mobility across the RVA region. Grounded in research/best practices from the #Urban Institute, we’re celebrating initiatives like the upcoming launch of PCs for People in the RVA/757 footprint. Digital Access is a key measure within our High-Quality Education pillar and this program puts a critical piece in place - literally putting computers in the hands of people who need these resources and diverting otherwise discarded electronics from entering the waste stream prematurely.??Impact beyond our imagination!??And it starts with this incredibly simple idea of helping companies responsibly dispose of their replaced computers by creating training opportunities to refurbish and distribute to families in need. Win-Win all around and a true example of how we can come together to move the region forThanks for the tour today and congratulations on the upcoming launch in May! #OneRegionRVA #PCsforPeople #RVA757Connects

Did you know that in Richmond’s Southside, neighborhood residents with the least tree canopy have a life expectancy up to 20 years shorter than other parts of the city? This stark reality drives the work of Southside ReLeaf, an organization focused on improving the quality of life in Southside by greening communities and advocating with neighbors. Lisa Aikins-Afful, Southside ReLeaf’s Outreach and Engagement Coordinator, plays a key role in this mission — connecting with volunteers, partners, and local officials to promote greening efforts. This MLK Day, Lisa helped lead a project where volunteers removed over 1,000 pounds of trash and more than a dozen discarded tires in just two hours! Read our full interview with Lisa about how volunteers drive Southside ReLeaf’s mission forward on the blog now.?Learn More: https://lnkd.in/eqJcSfd4

What motivates you to give back within your community? That’s just one of the questions we’re hoping to answer through the 2025 Virginia Community Engagement Index (VCEI). The VCEI is a comprehensive study to understand the state of service, volunteerism, civic action, and community priorities in Virginia. We’re partnering with Serve Virginia to ensure that voices from the greater Richmond region are heard. Your input will help shape not only local efforts but also statewide initiatives for a more connected and engaged Virginia. How can you help? Take the survey! https://lnkd.in/eVXU-8NS By encouraging others to complete this survey, you can help us reach as many voices as possible. Every share truly makes a difference — thank you for helping us to create a more vibrant, connected, and civically engaged Virginia! #VCEI2025 #VirginiaIsForVolunteers
