On Tuesday night, 14 organizations from across Philadelphia came together to attend The Community Curator ? Q4 Community Curation Clinic: Giving Tuesday and Year-End Campaigns. Sponsored by: Reify Solutions! What was supposed to be a 3-hour intensive workshop turned into 4 hours of invaluable knowledge sharing and meaningful connection-building. We are especially grateful to our guest presenters?Shane D. Nelson, & Taylor Cobb, (Reify Solutions) and?Stephon Braithwaite-Martin (Rhetoric Advising), for immersing us in discussions on donor segmentation and engagement, as well as campaign storytelling and messaging. As we enter “Giving Season,” we look forward to supporting these organizations as they mobilize their communities, motivate their supporters, and generate impactful campaigns! We had the privilege of curating community with the CJ Wolfe Foundation this past weekend! Founded in 2020 by visionary entrepreneur CJ Wolfe, this impactful organization has been dedicated to empowering Philadelphia's youth affected by gun violence by introducing them to the world of photography. For the second year in a row, we were thrilled to have participated in their annual Community Weekend, where we joined the Kensington cleanup and attended an adult photography class. It was inspiring to connect with so many incredible leaders and creatives, especially Claudy, who shared valuable insights on mastering camera settings. We are deeply grateful for the CJ Wolfe Foundation’s solution-based approach—a true testament to the power of nurturing the gifts within others. Beginning this week with a deep sense of gratitude, I am officially a member of the Association of Nonprofit Specialists. --- This past week, I traveled to New York, NY for a two-day non-profit consultants' institute, held by the Association at the Coro New York Leadership Center. On both days I found myself truly grounded in the experience and my purpose, knowing that I was in the right room. From listening to presenters and acclaimed Non-Profit Specialists Frank Abdale, Merle Benny, and Maria Badali to fellowshipping with other leaders in the sector, this entire experience felt like a true affirmation of my Community Curation Journey. Collectively, we delved into a series of topics, including practices that build community, collaboration, and capacity, and refined our unique value statements. Finally, having tax expert Michael R Durant present put the icing on the cake. With so many questions answered and insights gained, I am eager to apply this information and serve my city as a new member of this association. In closing, I share with you all my unique value statement: "Through The Community Curator ? , I will use my lived experience and understanding of people power to organize and empower grassroots leaders and organizations so that Philadelphia communities can thrive." Founded in 2023 by Jasmine Tate-Suppleé, Shafir's Journey is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to assisting children with spinal cord injuries. They provide essential medical equipment, including wheelchairs, supplies, and advocacy services. - Shafir's story, rooted in the fight against gun violence, resonates deeply with our mission, and we are grateful for Jasmine's dedication to addressing this critical need. Early December, I felt frustrated with my perceived inability to assist all of the organizations we serve, as well as other grassroots leaders, through The Community Curator ?. Each of our clients, or co-curators as we prefer to call them, seemed overwhelmed with strategic planning, fundraising, and outreach for the upcoming year. Reflecting on ways to meet their needs and position them for efficient mission delivery, I realized I couldn't do it alone. From this realization, the "Non-Profit Community Curation Clinic" was born. On Saturday, January 27th, 11 nonprofit organizations gathered under one roof to curate their communities for the 2024 impact year. ?????? With 4 powerful speakers and a wealth of shared resources, the afternoon was a powerhouse of insights. ?? ? Taylor Cobb and Shane D. Nelson (Reify Solutions), Theresa Spencer (Vintage Green Inc) and Jarel Daniels, MST (JD Tax & Accounting Advisors ) , thank you for sharing your expertise. ?????? From Non-Profit programming to fundraising, marketing, and finance, we covered it all! Together, we're grateful to each participant for trusting us with their time and stories. ?? We're confident this experience will help these organizations continue uplifting families, youth, and our communities every day, as they already do!
