We believe the power to confront climate change resides within our communities. We believe citizens, businesses, and local governments have the power to take action, implement policy, and reduce emissions right here in our own backyard of Central Virginia. C3 catalyzes climate action at the community level through collaboration, programs, and advocacy which directly reduce climate emissions and elevate the climate leadership of Virginia communities. We work closely with citizens, businesses, local governments, schools, and nonprofits to develop climate action plans which build in equity while drastically reducing climate pollution. These plans include tangible and measurable actions that are accessible to any individual or organization's needs. We believe that C3's action at the local level can serve as a model for community climate action throughout the Commonwealth and beyond.

We had a blast with Generation180 at the Electric Vehicle and Community Transportation Expo! Last night, C3 was delighted to hear Dwayne Jones (Director, Waynesboro Parks and Recreation Parks and Recreation) talk about the 20-year process of establishing the new Sunset Park and several other nearby projects. Advocates and planners from the Piedmont Mobility Alliance and Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition were all present, with C3, Sentara Health, UVA Mircromobility, Piedmont Environmental Council and Albemarle County partners joining from the Charlottesville and Albemarle side. While the weather was a little too dramatic to go and explore some of the park's trails, the beautiful wooden pavilion (inspired by Waynesboro's unique rail history) sheltered us as we took in the spectacular view, replete with a full rainbow to frame our group!?? It was great to meet our neighbors in the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition from over the mountain, and to share what’s happening on both sides of the Blue Ridge to improve safe, active and climate-forward transportation and recreation. We're looking forward to seeing some of our new friends at Party for the Planet in October! #SunsetPark

Blue Ridge Health District's sixth #MAPP2Health assessment is underway! The Community Climate Collaborative is proud to be a member of the Steering Committee for MAPP2Health, an initative conducted by #UVAHealth and Sentara Health #MarthaJeffersonHospital aiming to better understand community health needs. The MAPP2Health report also provides an implementation plan to improve equitable access to resources for a healthy, safe community. There are two upcoming opportunities for community members' direct participation in this process: 1. Take the 2024 Community Health Survey! https://lnkd.in/ekY8zGrF (English, Espa?ol) 2. Join a focus group! Starting in October, virtually or in person, lasting 1 hour between the hours of 4:00–8:00 pm weekdays, and in the mornings on Saturdays.
