关于我们

The ComeBack Kid Society (CKS) is a 501C3 nonprofit agency providing free mentoring programs for at-risk youth. Our mission revolves around offering unwavering support and invaluable resources to young individuals residing in foster group homes, juvenile detentions, treatment centers and our local communities, helping them to triumph over life’s challenges, cultivate resilience, and recognize their self-worth. With a resolute vision to break the detrimental cycles of poverty, abuse, incarceration, and homelessness; we advocate for change and transformation. Through our six core components which include Foster Youth Empowerment, Education, Juvenile Justice Reform, Workforce Development, Teen Homelessness, and Mentoring Programs, we are steadfast in providing our students with the tools, guidance, and opportunities they need to rewrite their narratives, overcome adversity and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

  • One month out of the year, we dedicate time to rotating our students through hands-on workshops—and this week was all about COOKING! Our youth learned how to make a classic burger and fries from start to finish. From grilling up the perfect patty to mastering the air fryer, they experienced the independence and pride that comes from creating a meal with their own two hands. Cooking is a vital life skill, and we’re so excited to give our students the tools they need to thrive inside and outside the kitchen!

We were founded in 2018 with one goal: to make sure foster youth and at-risk teens don’t become just another statistic. Our founder, Kendal Torres, spent 18 years working with teens and saw firsthand how a lack of resources led to homelessness, incarceration, and lost potential. Instead of standing by, she decided to step in and create change. Now, we’re building a movement—partnering with local businesses, schools, and youth organizations to make sure these kids get the second chance they deserve. Every young person has greatness inside them. Let’s call it out, invest in it, and watch them thrive.

  • This week, our amazing volunteer Devonte shared his experience working with youth at the Norman Juvenile Center—a place where mentorship and second chances can change lives. His dedication to showing up, listening, and guiding these young people is exactly what The Comeback Kid Society is all about. Volunteers like Devonte make a real impact, and we’re always looking for more people to join us! If you’re interested in volunteering, send us a message—we’d love to have you!

  • We believe in second chances, and the numbers prove it! Since 2018, The Comeback Kid Society has: ? Served 6,000+ homeless ? Provided 203,652 meals ? Facilitated 25,302 program attendances ? Mentored 5,000 students These numbers represent real lives changed. Launching transitional living homes for youth aging out of foster care and expanding our paid internship program to provide real-world job experience. Want to help? Kids with trauma are 2.5x more likely to face mental health struggles—but with support, they can heal and thrive. Trauma doesn’t have to define our students—it can be a chapter, not the whole story. At The Comeback Kid Society, we provide mentorship, life skills, and emotional support to help our youth heal, grow, and regain confidence. Every child deserves a chance to thrive, and we’re here to make sure they do.

  • This week, our students brought their artistic vision to life during our Floral Arrangement Class as part of our Innovate, Create & Activate Workshop Series! From selecting the perfect flowers to designing stunning arrangements, our youth tapped into their creative side while learning a skill they can use for a lifetime. A huge thank you to the Oklahoma Community Foundation for making this possible and for their continued support! Stay tuned for more posts about the three other workshops happening this month—March is all about growth, learning, and empowerment!
