  • A month ago, we gathered for the How to Be Nimble webinar series with Britt Hogue and Center for Nonprofit Advancement. It was a necessary conversation about what it takes to stay steady when everything around us is shifting. We talked about making decisions without perfect clarity. Balancing urgency with thoughtfulness. Moving forward while knowing the ground might still shift. What has stayed with you since that conversation? What have you applied? What are your biggest challenges still? At The Collective Good, we have been thinking about how nimbleness is not just about reacting, it is about being prepared for multiple paths. A clear sense of purpose. Strong relationships. A plan that holds up amid uncertainty. If you joined us, we would love to hear what has resonated since. Drop a comment and let us know what is still on your mind. #NimbleSeries #SocialImpact #Leadership

  • #DEI. A movement. A mindset. Three letters under fire. The conversation keeps evolving. The work stays necessary. The resistance remains. The future depends on how we move forward. In the final episode, Britt Hogue joined Real Conversations from the C-Suite with Anita Polite-Wilson, Ph.D. to explore the past, present, and future of this conversation. #RewireDEI #BeyondTheBuzzwords #HumanizedStrategy #RealTalk

Hello Community! February is Black History Month—a time to reflect on the past, engage with the present, and envision a more inclusive future. One topic sparking much conversation lately is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, or DEI. But what does DEI truly mean, and why has it become so divisive? Principal @ The Collective Good, LLC | Strategist & Collective Impact Leader

What an inspiring way to start the day! Over 100 nonprofit and philanthropic leaders gathered this morning thanks to the call to action from the Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership, Georgetown University and Greater Washington Community Foundation. We discussed the challenges facing the sector, and strategies to protect and strengthen the DMV area. This type of gathering between funders and community-based organizations is critical to ensuring that all DMV residents can thrive. ?? We talked about needs for the short term, with an emphasis on amplifying our collective voice and power through advocacy. One tangible thing we can all do immediately is call legislators to oppose the current version of the Continuing Resolution and instead support a bipartisan amendment that protect’s DC’s locally funded budget. ?? ?? We also looked at the long term, acknowledging that our sector must reimagine our work and seek greater collaboration over competition for resources. This shift is not only for nonprofits to contemplate, but for all of us in the system to take action towards creating a sustainable social sector that works for communities. It was important that we focused today’s conversation on Washington, DC and the region because the City (and MD and VA) faces outsized harm due to the administration’s closure of federal agencies. These attacks come at the expense of not only nonprofit institutions but we see our neighbors and friends losing jobs, and small businesses and neighborhoods feeling real effects of these unnecessary cuts. ???? DC’s leadership, philanthropies, nonprofits, and its resilient residents punch above their weight, making meaningful strides despite a stretched budget and without congressional representation. Thanks to everyone who joined the conversation today, and the many more who are also committed to finding a path forward, together. ????

  • #DEI has become a lightning rod recently with some seeing it as essential, while others as divisive or diluted. But language matters, and the real question is: If we believe in values of inclusion and fairness, how can we press forward and not allow rhetoric to distract and confuse our work? Britt Hogue joined Real Conversations from the C-suite with Anita Polite-Wilson, Ph.D. to dig into this conversation. Tune in, and let’s talk about how we move beyond labels to create real, lasting change. #RewireDEI #BeyondTheBuzzwords #HumanizedStrategy #RealTalk

Hello Community! With all the controversy surrounding the term DEI, some are asking: Is it time to retire it? For some, the term has become synonymous with division or performative efforts. If we were to retire it, how could we rewire it, and what could replace it? My guest on Real Conversations from the C-suite, Ms. Britt Hogue, Founder, and CEO of The Collective Good returns to help us brainstorm possibilities. Connect with me!
