States like California are developing regulations that place the responsibility on water suppliers and wastewater managers to promote more efficient water use and increase reuse and recycling. The water and wastewater cycles are energy intensive and its activities can account for a significant portion of a state’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Expectations for urban water utility providers continue to increase year after year as water conservation becomes increasingly important in combating the climate crisis. Urban areas continue to see a growth in population as well as a change in precipitation patterns. TCR will host a WEN Workshop with Alissa Benchimol from Greenhouse Gas Management Institute to help reporters navigate and estimate their Scope 3 emissions. This session will include a targeted analysis of Scope 3 emissions for Category 1 (Purchased Goods and Services) and Category 5 (Waste from Operations), and on the applicability of Category 11 (Use of sold product) in the sector. Estimating Scope 3 emissions can be an important tool for water and wastewater managers, as well as water consumers, to understand the emissions intensity profile throughout their value chains. Join us for the Scope 3 workshop to help your organization tackle complex emissions reporting and drive sustainable improvements across operations. https://lnkd.in/gu2PnFj8 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- #WENRegistry #WaterEnergyNexus #WaterEnergyNexusRegistry #SustainableCalifornia #ClimateAction #GHGEmissions
