Lara spoke about the significant #opportunities for SMEs to enhance their competitiveness by adopting sustainable practices: "SMEs have a great chance right now to boost their competitiveness through sustainability, as purchasing companies increasingly look for top performers. Building strong supplier relationships and integrating sustainability into business strategy is essential, not only to improve competitiveness but also to effectively reduce emissions." Yet, there are many challenges faced by SMEs, particularly regarding data collection for various reporting requirements: "The biggest challenge lies in gathering data for different #reporting requirements, which SMEs often have limited resources for. With technical support, #scalable #DataCollection and #ClimateFriendly #procurement become possible, enabling SMEs to close transparency gaps, meet regulations, and decarbonize their supply chains." ???? In that context, the article further elaborates on the impact of new regulations like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (#CSRD) and the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (#LkSG), which directly and indirectly affect SMEs by requiring them to meet sustainability standards set by their larger, reporting-bound partners. Exciting news! ?? #ClimateChoice was featured in the lastest #BME magazine, highlighting our work in tackling Scope 3 emissions and the decarbonization of supply chains! ??? The article touches on the challenges companies are facing with the upcoming CSRD requirements, which will mandate that not only #large enterprises but also #SMEs disclose their CO2 emissions in the global supply chain starting in 2025. ?? This regulation will significantly impact #procurement, as up to 90% of emissions come from the upstream stages of value creation (Scope 3) and not from direct operations (Scope 1 and 2). Our CEO, Yasha Tarani, emphasized the importance of integrating climate data into procurement to achieve meaningful reductions in emissions.Yet, many procurement departments are still at the beginning stages of this journey.
