The Civics Center is proud to announce our gratitude for a recent grant award from the S. Mark Taper Foundation, which will support essential high school voter registration efforts in 2025. Thanks to the generous support of funders like the S. Mark Taper Foundation, The Civics Center will build upon the incredible program impact we saw in 2023. In LA County, for example, Claremont was the lowest performing district in LA County before we brought our programming to the district. We invested significant resources in training for students and educators in spring 2024, and, as a result, Claremont student-led drives registered a whopping 700 new youth voters, raising the district's 18-year-old registration rate from 20.5% to 55.1%, moving Claremont from the lowest rate in the county to among the top 15%.

If you’ve got a list of democracy emergencies, our country’s failure to implement universal high school voter registration deserves to be on it. Our new data show: In Pennsylvania, fewer than 45% of 18-year-olds are registered to vote. The deadline is less than one month away. Ask a friend to register to vote. https://lnkd.in/gQNmnqse

New York is not alone. In AZ, PA, OH and NY, the number of 18-year-olds registered to vote remains under 45%. Registration deadlines are fast approaching. When you let your communities know about the power of high school voter registration and the vast gap in registration rates between 18-year-olds and older voters, you can turn things around. https://lnkd.in/ga_KQSwb

If you don't believe that 18-year-olds can decide elections, look again. Our latest numbers are out for Georgia and Michigan. Shout out to the John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation for their wonderful work with school districts in Georgia. https://lnkd.in/gchm2MUa
