Recently, our Board of Directors spent an entire day dreaming, thinking, and planning for the next three years of City Lights and the impact we desire to make for our neighbors experiencing homelessness during a strategic planning retreat. Our board currently has 10 voting members, representing various areas of our community. They are who keep the train on the tracks and ensure we are able to serve our neighbors with dignity and care, both now and into the years to come! Thank you to our board members! We think they are pretty great!!??

Today we celebrate Veterans Day and those who have bravely and selflessly served our country in the military. As we honor and express our gratitude, we strive to serve our veterans and connect them to needed resources. 8% of people experiencing homelessness in Tulsa are veterans according to the 2024 Point in Time Count. Today, let’s honor their service not only by celebrating their bravery but by taking meaningful steps to ensure all veterans have a safe and dignified place to call home. To learn more about services and programs available to veterans experiencing homelessness in Tulsa, visit https://lnkd.in/gAvH_fgE To all veterans, thank you for your service. ??

This year, our Tulsa office is honored to partner with The City Lights Foundation of Oklahoma, a nonprofit that has brought hope and dignity to those experiencing homelessness since 2013. Through fundraisers, donation drives, and hands-on volunteering - like recently helping sort and organize donations - we’re proud to support their mission of fostering connection and community. Thank you, City Lights, for all you do to uplift our community’s most vulnerable! #wearewallace #makelivesbetter #citylightsfoundation #committedtoourcommunities

With the cooler temps arriving, there’s an increased risk for flu and sickness- especially for our neighbors outside. Saint Francis Health System/Warren Clinic partnered with us last night at Night Light to provide a flu vaccine clinic for our guests! Thank you, Saint Francis, for helping to keep our community safe and healthy!????

Thanks, Sarah Grounds, for representing Tulsa and City Lights so well in all you do!????
I had the opportunity to spend the first part of this week attending the Tulsa Regional Chamber Intercity Visit to Detroit. It’s always an incredible experience to meet new people, reconnect with others, and spend time with passionate Tulsans—all while learning about a new city from those who love it. I was able to grab a picture with several partners from A Way Home for Tulsa and I’m even more confident that our continuum of care providers are informed, focused, and leading with vision, empathy, and boldness. I wish we would have been able to ask more questions around this in Detroit but it did make me proud to be part of the work being done here in Tulsa and to sit on the Leadership Council. A couple of key takeaways: They emphasized that Detroit is a city big enough to matter in the world, but small enough that?you?matter in it. Imagine living in a city where?this was the aspiration! I hope to live a life that’s big enough to matter but so intentional that the people around me always know that they matter. Another thing that stood out was the encouragement to “do what is right and ignore the noise.” Balancing that with being a learner and believing in relationship/ engagement isn’t always easy, but it’s crucial to stay open to honest voices and perspectives, while not letting the fear of others' opinions keep us from doing what we know is right. There is enough room for all of us to exist.

100 Ways We Care: The City Lights Foundation of Oklahoma Last weekend, we were proud to serve as a sponsor for City Lights Foundation's Trivia Night at Cain's Ballroom, their annual fundraiser. While we didn't field a trivia squad this year, we were so excited to hear that CLF raised over $90,000, which will go directly towards ending homelessness in Tulsa. This was third consecutive year sponsoring Trivia Night, and we are so excited to see City Lights' continued success across Tulsa. #MabreyBank Member FDIC, Equal Housing Lender #100WaysWeCare #YouMatteratMabrey #communitysupport

What an amazing time we had with each of you at City Lights Trivia Night!?? Our biggest thanks to the many donors, sponsors, guests and volunteers who helped make this evening together one to remember! We're proud to announce that together we raised over $92,000 to support our neighbors in Tulsa who are experiencing homelessness, making this our most successful Trivia Night yet! In the words of our neighbor, Bryan, "nobody's getting anywhere without each other", and that simply couldn't be more true for us! Thank you for joining us in caring for our friends on the streets and in housing across our community!?? Stay tuned for more pics to come!

Did you hear the news? ??? The City of Tulsa's Residential Care Center was officially approved by the Board of Adjustments this week. This will be Tulsa's first low-barrier facility providing temporary housing with supportive services to our neighbors transitioning out of homelessness. The goal of the program will be to move our guests into permanent housing as quickly as possible while working with the City Lights team to get into housing and obtain stability. This is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to homelessness and housing in our city, but we are grateful to be trusted with operating this program for our community! #buildingrelationships #restoringcommunity ??: Mike Simons, Tulsa World
