Since 1985, The Children’s Cabinet’s mission has been to keep children safe and families together by providing services and resources that address unmet needs through a unique and effective cooperative effort between the private sector and public agencies in Nevada. By offering a wide range of community programs, the goal of the agency’s founders was to create a lasting public/private partnership to address the needs of children and their families in our community. In the past year, The Children’s Cabinet helped more than 10,000 families. The Children’s Cabinet’s work extends past the immediate needs of youth and families to promote happy, healthy families. Offering more than 20 programs for children (birth to 24 years old), services include providing food and shelter, crisis intervention and case management, academic support, tutoring, job training and transitional living, parenting classes, child care subsidies, child care resource and referral assistance, and free family counseling. The Children’s Cabinet provides a wide range of crisis intervention services, including Safe Place, a service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for youth experiencing violence, abuse or exploitation. Programs also include runaway and homeless youth services, substance abuse and gang intervention programming, work experience training, and independent living for former foster care youth. As a non-profit agency, The Children’s Cabinet relies upon community support in order to offer programs and services at no charge to at-risk children and their families.

  • We had the best day today visiting some of our dedicated Safe Place sites to show our appreciation and present certificates of recognition from Senator Jacky Rosen. The success of Safe Place depends on strong community support. We rely on local businesses, like our incredible partners at Scheels, and youth-friendly organizations to serve as Safe Place sites—designated locations where any young person in crisis can seek immediate help.   • Last night, we hit the rink at Roller Kingdom for Roll Into Safety, and it was an absolute blast! ??From first-time skaters to pros gliding across the floor, everyone came together for a night of fun while spreading awareness about Safe Place. ?? But beyond the skates and music, the night was a powerful reminder that every young person deserves to feel safe and supported. Safe Place is available 24/7 to help youth facing tough situations. Our team is always ready to respond, assess the situation, and provide immediate support. If needed, we can also connect youth and families with free services like counseling, housing assistance, case management, and our food pantry.?? A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came by, laced up, and helped make this event such a success. ??

  • Our team had the privilege of touring Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada (VMSN) and meeting their dedicated staff! ? VMSN provides high-quality, comprehensive health care completely free of charge to those in our community who need help. Their services include medical, dental, an onsite pharmacy (with free medications!), and social and behavioral health care.
