关于我们

In a democracy, people speak and the government responds. In 2004, The Children’s Agenda was created to be the voice for Rochester’s children. While rooted in our local community, much of our advocacy targets state-level changes in public policies and public funding for children. We are the only organization in the region and one of a few in New York with the exclusive purpose of improving the health, education, and well-being of children by advocating for changes in laws, regulations and public funding. By dedicating our mission to advocacy, we are able to focus our efforts on the most sustainable and equitable way of making change. Everything we do is influenced by what people in our community say are the greatest needs of children and families, and the solutions that would work best. What sets us apart from other organizations is: · We work exclusively to advocate for policy change. This is a vital tool for addressing societal challenges, promoting justice, and advancing the common good. · We conduct our work on both a local and state level. This enables us to make change for not only the Rochester community, but for all children in New York. · We incorporate the lived experiences of parents to define our agenda. This ensures the perspectives of those impacted by the issues drive our priorities. · We make decisions based on the best available research. This provides credibility and the evidence-based data to support our work. · We are funded solely through philanthropic support and do not receive funding from any government sources. This allows us to do our work without fear or favor to any policymaker or political group.

Pete Nabozny, Policy Director at The Children's Agenda, spoke yesterday with Spectrum News about 3 bills for child care that are needed to help us work incrementally towards universal child care in New York State. Nabozny says “If these three things were signed it would not solve every problem in the world, but it would certainly help a number of families in New York state, and do something for the workforce and help more people access jobs that we know are out there,” New York families are struggling to find and afford child care- we need Governor Hochul to sign the bills. “It would really help a lot of families across the state and remove some of the bureaucratic hurdles that families experience,” says Nabozny. No matter who we are, we all have a voice. Use your voice today to tell Governor Hochul to sign the Early Intervention reform bill. Infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities can't wait any longer for the system to be fixed. They need therapists to be there when they need them. Send your letter to the Governor today at https://lnkd.in/eXSR2eqK

Imagine being a parent who's working full-time, but when you go to apply for help paying for child care, you're told you **don't earn enough** to qualify for assistance. That's the case for thousands of NY families who work as independent contractors, who own small businesses, or work in the gig economy. This is an easy problem to fix and the NY legislature passed the bills to do it. Now we need Governor Hochul to sign it. Add your voice to Assemblywoman Sarah Clark's and tell the Governor to sign the bill! It only takes a minute to do at https://lnkd.in/eY6RKFvq Ana J.
