Pete Nabozny, Policy Director at The Children's Agenda, spoke yesterday with Spectrum News about 3 bills for child care that are needed to help us work incrementally towards universal child care in New York State. Nabozny says “If these three things were signed it would not solve every problem in the world, but it would certainly help a number of families in New York state, and do something for the workforce and help more people access jobs that we know are out there,” New York families are struggling to find and afford child care- we need Governor Hochul to sign the bills. “It would really help a lot of families across the state and remove some of the bureaucratic hurdles that families experience,” says Nabozny. Imagine being a parent who's working full-time, but when you go to apply for help paying for child care, you're told you **don't earn enough** to qualify for assistance. That's the case for thousands of NY families who work as independent contractors, who own small businesses, or work in the gig economy.
