The Georgian House, designed by renowned architect Robert Adam, epitomizes 18th-century wealth and sophistication. Located in Edinburgh’s New Town, it was purchased in 1796 by John Lamont, the 18th Chief of Clan Lamont, for £1,800. The lavish interiors, featuring period furniture and works by Scottish artists like Ramsay and Raeburn, reflect the Lamonts’ opulent lifestyle. After John’s death in 1816, the family’s fortunes faded, and the house was sold for £3,000 the following year—a poignant reminder of wealth’s fleeting nature.

Killiecrankie is a stunning blend of history and natural beauty, set within a dramatic wooded gorge where tree-lined slopes provide a haven for diverse wildlife and vibrant flora. But this tranquil landscape hasn't always been so peaceful. In 1689, Killiecrankie was the site of the infamous Battle of Killiecrankie. Against all odds, the Jacobites secured a decisive victory, pursuing retreating government soldiers through the narrow pass. Among the fleeing Redcoats was Donald McBane, who famously leapt 18 feet across the turbulent River Garry in a desperate bid for survival. Today, the spot of his daring escape has become a favorite destination for wild swimming enthusiasts.

Leith Hall in Aberdeenshire is a charming and eclectic historic home, brimming with fascinating curios from around the globe. Since 1650, this remarkable property has stood as a witness to history, home to ten generations of the Leith-Hay family until just after World War II. The family generously donated the house, along with its original furnishings and art, creating one of the most complete collections in our care. Beyond the house, the stunning grounds, including our highest-altitude garden, offer breathtaking views of Aberdeenshire—a true hidden gem waiting to be explored.

Kellie Castle's origins date back to the 14th century, though much of its interior was transformed in the late 19th century by the Lorimer family. James Lorimer, a Professor of Law at Edinburgh University, discovered the abandoned ruin during a family vacation in the 1870s and dedicated himself to restoring the castle's interiors. After his passing, various family members, a talented mix of artists, designers, and architects, continued the restoration, each leaving their unique mark on Kellie.
