Helping children with special needs and their families thrive...
关于我们
Every child deserves the chance to realize their fullest potential in life. While others may focus on the challenges of the children we serve, we see possibilities. Possibilities for confidence, happiness, achievement and self-reliance. For nearly 70 years, The Centers for Exceptional Children has provided a critical combination of support services, programs, and facilities dedicated to helping children with special needs and their families thrive.

An entrepreneurial leader, Amy Harp has extensive experience building partnerships and alliances that cut across traditional divides. She has worked in the early-stage, corporate, and international sectors with a focus on leveraging digital marketing and technology to scale change and accelerate organizational growth. She is particularly inspired by turning great ideas-both large and small-into tangible reality. Amy retired in 2022 from Reynolds American where she led Consumer Experience and Marketing Operations. Prior to that she owned a marketing, brand and e-commerce agency that served Fortune 500 clients in the global consumer goods, food and beverage, and entertainment industries for over 20 years. Her early career included marketing roles with PepsiCo and Unilever. When not indulging her passions of running, herb-gardening and travel, Amy is a Forsyth County Guardian ad Litem and volunteer tutor with Heart Math. She and her husband Thom live in Winston Salem and continue to enjoy discovering North Carolina’s charms after raising their family in New York. They are almost, but not quite, ready to say y’all unironically.

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded a five-star rating by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education. This prestigious recognition underscores CFEC's commitment to providing high-quality care and education for children, ages birth to three, with disabilities. For 17 years, we have maintained the five-star rating, which is the highest achievable under North Carolina's Quality Rating and Improvement System and reflects CFEC's excellence in staff education, program standards, and child outcomes.

Calling all advocates! In 2021, child care centers across the state of North Carolina received Child Care Compensation Grants which have supported early childhood education programs by providing additional workforce compensation to aid in turnover and increase availability of affordable childcare for families. Currently, both the NC House and Senate budget proposals include an extension?of the Child Care Compensation Grants and are posed to vote on the budget this week! We would appreciate your advocacy of the continuation of these grants and all the child care centers and teachers they have benefitted in the last three years. Follow the link below to identify your representative and download a customizable phone script so you can call and tell your representative to pass the budget before the current funding runs out on June 30th! https://lnkd.in/eKnFQtxz
