Over the last 18 months, we at Constellations Culture Change Fund & Initiative have been uplifting the innovation and leadership of our Constellations fellows, their partner organizations, and our ever-growing network while watching the growth of narrative shift movements across six regions that we’ve prioritized. It has been a remarkable journey to partake in and also to witness work that has had an indelible impact on community-led initiatives. Illustrator, textile, and rasquache Artist Disruptor Nansi Guevara is one fellow holding critical conversations within the Rio Grande Delta (outside Brownsville, TX)? and uplifting calls-to-action to save sacred lands through her work with Nuestra Delta Magica and Trucha. Mil gracias, Nansi, for the love you selflessly give to the land, its inhabitants, and our creative community! Profile produced by: Breaktide Productions LLC Project management: T. R. While many people overlook the intersectional identities of those in the South, Constellations Fellow Charmaine Minniefield leaned into calling on all the ancestors of the land. As a community-based initiative, The Praise House Project places multimedia and site-specific public art installations within communities to uphold the African American histories and narratives of the area and address issues of erasure and systemic inequities. Thank you, Charmaine, for holding space not only for the stewards of the land but also for protecting the praise houses, which are historic and influential containers for people's power! Deep in the heart of Blackfeet territory lives an inspired and committed Culture Bearer who honors her Amskapipikuni and Tsalagi lineages through her community work. We’re so proud to support Mariah Gladstone, who was not only a #ConstellationsFellow but also represents her people as an artist, aerialist, and founder of Indigikitchen. Thank you, Mariah, for inspiring us to move our bodies and reconnect with traditional foods and for how you pour your heart into your people’s wellness! Over the last year, many of you have become familiar with the ten incredible Constellations fellows who have diligently enriched our network as both Artist Disruptors and Culture Bearers. Within that group are many respected knowledge keepers, community creatives, and way finders advocating to protect not only their cultural cornerstones but also those of others. Among these is Amy Stretten, who comes from the Chickahominy Tribe of Virginia and partnered with United American Indian Involvement, Inc. (UAII) during their fellowship. Take a moment to listen to her fellowship's impact on her work and community, and thank you to Amy for leading powerful conversations around wellness and body sovereignty!
