Over the last year, many of you have become familiar with the ten incredible Constellations fellows who have diligently enriched our network as both Artist Disruptors and Culture Bearers. Within that group are many respected knowledge keepers, community creatives, and way finders advocating to protect not only their cultural cornerstones but also those of others. Among these is Amy Stretten, who comes from the Chickahominy Tribe of Virginia and partnered with United American Indian Involvement, Inc. (UAII) during their fellowship. Take a moment to listen to her fellowship's impact on her work and community, and thank you to Amy for leading powerful conversations around wellness and body sovereignty! Through a participatory decision-making process, a panel of Culture Bearers and folk artists selected six lighthouse organizations leading community culture bearing with intention and power. After accepting the invitation to meet Constellations Fellow Keala Kahuanui and her Kanaka kin on Hawai’i Island in August, our team immersed ourselves in the tender and fierce aloha only found in Hawai’i. Culture Bearer Keala Kahuanui and her partner organization NA KALAI WAA hosted dozens of visitors during her summer showcase Ho’ō Kākou: Food Provisioning for OUR Wa’a & Moku. Many organizations, community leaders, educators, and water protectors came together to learn about food sovereignty, sustainability, and traditional food preservation techniques and shared a delicious, all-ancestral meal. We are all forever changed in knowing Keala but also the love of a community that is not our own, but allows us to share - by invitation - the honor that it is to be a visiting guest in their sovereign kingdom. Mahalo nui, Keala. We love you, fellowships. #ConstellationsFund #StoriesToChangeTheWorld #BIPOCNarrativePower #TrustBasedPhilanthropy

Rare are the storytellers *from* the community who are not there to share something sacred, but trusted to carry a piece of culture forward. Constellations Fellow Adam Perez is such a storyteller and weaves his web through a plethora of talents be it in front of, or behind the camera. We were honored to attend his fellowship showcase, which culminated in the Tierra Mia Festival, a day spent honoring the myriad cultures and community members in the Central Californian Valley. Co-hosted by his partner organization Central Valley Empowerment Alliance, the event welcomed over 1,000 attendees! Have a peek at this wonderful day and thank you from our heart of hearts for including us, Adan. This showcase was sponsored by a partnership between The Constellations Culture Change Fund & Initiative, housed at The Center for Cultural Power, and the California Arts Council. #ConstellationsFund #StoriesToChangeTheWorld #BIPOCNarrativePower #TrustBasedPhilanthropy
