Passive homes are so well-sealed and insulated that they rely on mechanical ventilation for fresh air circulation. An Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) serves as the “lungs” of the house, continuously bringing in fresh, filtered air through a hospital-grade HEPA filter.
