?? New Employee! ?? We would like to welcome Jeannie to the team as our new Volunteer & In-Kind Gift Coordinator. Jeannie has experience in the nonprofit sector and shared a little bit about herself with us. Jeannie shared, "I am a nonprofit sector generalist who has always enjoyed helping people and building community. I am a proud alumna of the Trinity Fellows program at Marquette University, and I am currently back in graduate school studying Public Health. I bring a trauma-informed and social determinants of health perspective to everything I do. In my free time, I read, make art, stream nerdy shows on PBS Passport, spend time with friends, and volunteer at the Riverwest Co-op." At The Cathedral Center, one of the most impactful ways we empower our clients is by supporting them as they transition into stable housing. In Milwaukee, the cost of housing can be a barrier, with the average one-bedroom apartment costing $850 and a two-bedroom apartment costing $1,100. For many, securing housing can feel impossible without help. That’s where YOU come in. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we are able to help cover the security deposit and first month’s rent for our clients when other options — such as savings, vouchers, and flex-funding services — fall short. ?? This critical support helps families and individuals regain stability, offering them a fresh start and a chance to build a brighter future. BLACK HISTORY MONTH! ??? ?? . . Here is how we are celebrating Black History Month at The Cathedral Center. Right now, our wall is adorned with the faces of important Black figures who inspire us every day! . . We spoke to one of our Community Case Managers who shared some of her thoughts on Black History Month. She said, "As a Black professional working in Human Services, we serve the community all year round. The people before us paved the way for Black professionals like me, and so that people who look like me can receive services. It makes our clients feel like they can relate when they talk to people who look like them." . . Although Black History Month is celebrated in February, Black History affects us every day of the year. We celebrate the brave and inspiring Black figures who fought for civil rights. UPCOMING EVENTS! ?????? 2025 is moving quickly so make sure you get The Cathedral Center's events on your calendar: March 1-8 is our Empowerment Challenge, a completely virtual event where you can help us sustain our flexible funding that supports The Cathedral Center's empowering services through donations. Together, we can empower women to rise above the societal constructs of gender inequality. May 8 is our Glitz and Glam event, a night of wine, mingling, and shopping for some beautiful boutique items. Finally, July 30 is our Pathway Home event. This year we have moved to a new location at the Italian Community Center. Pathway Home is our signature fundraiser where we celebrate another year of service with our supporters.
