This is so inspiring! We love seeing parents parenting like this. Setting up the young ones for success is so crucial and even something as silly-seeming as a daily mantra like this can instill the values we want to see in our children. . . . Happy Friday! I Got This Idea From @nipseyhussle & We Been Adding To It As We Go! Hope This Inspires Someone! #family #dad #kids #love #positivity #fyp #fypシ #viral #instagood

Last week @tattedmonster99 took part in a @broncosofffield event to help assemble Kynd Kits for teens in the Denver area. These kits are designed to help teens dealing with mental health issues, which is a large part of our broader mission to help #atriskyouth in our communities. ?? . . . #denver #broncos #denverbroncos #nfl #broncosfootball #mentalhealth #teenmentalhealth #education #helpthekids #childrenarethefuture #blackexcellence #blm

We’re extremely disappointed by this result in our home state of California. The fact of the matter is too many people in America don’t see incarcerated people as people. They want justice to be as exacting and punitive as possible. For them, it’s about punishment, not rehabilitation and reentry. Much of the work we’ve done at TCF has been about eliminating this stigma because, whether the privileged recognize it or not, most incarcerated people will be released someday. Wouldn’t you rather live in a society where these people have been rehabilitated and given a second chance to succeed? Wouldn’t that be better for everyone? . . . Posted @withregram ? @washingtonpost California voters have rejected a measure that could have outlawed forced prison labor in the state, according to the Associated Press. Proposition 6 would have amended the state’s Constitution to remove the current provision that allows jails and prisons to use involuntary servitude as punishment against incarcerated people. The California Constitution prohibits slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime. Tens of thousands of incarcerated people work a range of jobs in California prisons, including fighting the state’s wildfires, packaging nuts, doing dishes, making license plates, sanitizer and furniture for about 74 cents an hour. Prisons are allowed to punish prisoners for not completing work assignments, for example by taking away privileges such as visits from family members. #prisonreform #justicereform #incarcerated #blm #incarceratedlivesmatter #systemicracism

Some good info here from @prisonpolicy on the hurdles and restrictions faced by returning folks. He’ll be just fine. They may not be. . . . Posted @withregram ? @prisonpolicy No, having a felony conviction does not stop someone from being president. But it does prohibit 19 million people in the US from earning a living in more ordinary roles, like firefighting or pest control work. Anyone who believes that a felony conviction should not bar someone from the most powerful office on the planet must also agree that felony-based employment discrimination for everyday jobs makes no sense. What an incredible young woman! Dr. Dorothy Jean Tillman II is an inspiration to Black kids everywhere to study hard. You never know what can happen. ? . . . So incredible! “Great ideas can come from humble beginnings.” . . . This is so refreshing and inspiring to hear. It’s critical that the trans community has loud and clear allies. Someone like Dwyane Wade, who has a platform and who other Black men will listen to, puts his love and support for his daughter perfectly here. When you have children, the love you have for them must be unconditional to ensure they have a chance to grow and succeed.

The best coaches don’t just ruminate on the Xs and Os of the game; they are leaders and mentors for young men at a time in their lives when they need it most. This is a great example of that. . . . #consent #tcu #tcufootball #collegefootball #ncaafootball #big12football #blm #education #mentorship #blackexcellence #footballcoach #coaching

Great advice and example from Trevor Noah here. It’s a lesson we should be teaching our children. Reading will expand your understanding of the world around you. This is a stark reminder of the cycle of poverty and homelessness that often awaits the formerly incarcerated. It’s past time to break it. . . . Posted @withregram ? @prisonpolicy Today is World Mental Health Day and World Homeless Day – two issues that are undoubtedly targeted by the criminal legal system in the US. Incarceration is extremely traumatic and can create or worsen existing mental health issues. More than half of people in state prisons report mental health problems, but only 1 in 4 have received professional help in prison. And formerly incarcerated people are 10x more likely to be homeless than the general population – creating a vicious revolving door with the carceral system as more communities criminalize homelessness. Clearly the US’ approach to these issues is not working. It’s time to focus on housing – not criminalization. It does more than put a roof over people’s heads; housing gives people the space and stability necessary to receive care, escape crises, and improve their quality of life.
