Patricia (Pat) Mathis, a native of Sparks, Georgia, is a pioneering entrepreneur in the construction industry. After graduating from Savannah State University in 1977 with a degree in Business Administration, she began her career at The Polote Corporation, a leading African-American construction firm. In 1980, she founded Pat Mathis Construction Company, which has become one of the most recognized African-American and female-led firms in the Southeastern U.S., contributing to major projects across Georgia and Savannah. Beyond her business success, Pat is a passionate advocate for economic inclusion and fair business practices. She actively supports community organizations that uplift the underserved, including Old Savannah City Mission, Greenbriar Children’s Center, and Senior Citizens, Inc. Her dedication to social impact is rooted in her belief in lending a helping hand to those in need. Pat is deeply engaged in civic and professional organizations. She is a Lifetime Member of the Savannah Branch NAACP, a member of the Greater Savannah Black Chamber of Commerce, Women Business Enterprise Council, and Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council, and has served on the Governor’s Exploratory Council for Georgia’s Procurement Practices and Disparity Study. She also chairs the Rev. Bennie R. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Fund. Her achievements have earned her numerous accolades, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Outstanding Georgia Citizen, Who’s Who Among Georgia Business Women, and Distinguished Black Businesses of Savannah.
