We are excited to share The Carmack Collective's 2024 Annual Report, highlighting our work to confront the fossil fuel industry's impact on our climate and communities. In our second year, we scaled our grantmaking from $750,000 to nearly $1 million, supporting frontline organizations and creative initiatives driving real change. From building movements to shifting narratives, our partners are challenging fossil fuel industry power through coordinated action and cultural transformation. What excites us most is seeing how our grantees are proving that the climate justice movement doesn't lack solutions – it lacks resources to scale what's working. Through flexible, long-term funding and trust-based partnerships, we're helping ensure these changemakers have the sustained support needed to win. We are absolutely delighted to share some extraordinary news: a permanent, year-round home for climate arts and culture is coming! This is a game changer for realizing the power of the arts to create momentum for a safe and just future for all. The Climate Museum’s permanent space is the cultural and community anchor of a new mixed-use development on the West Side at 11th Ave and 34th Street. We are pleased to be part of the proposal by The Moinian Group, Boston Properties (BXP), and BRP Companies, designed by FXCollaborative, that was chosen by New York State. A sincere thank you to these partners, Governor Kathy Hochul, and all the other parties involved in this real estate proposal. This new home is several years off. We’ll bridge that time with a multi-year lease on a space where we can continue to present free exhibitions and events. We’re grateful you’re with us and can’t wait to welcome you—stay tuned! As we close out 2024, one thing is clear: divestment from fossil fuels is crucial but only the beginning. ?? To drive real change, we need a vision of what good looks like, a pathway to get there, tools to overcome the barriers, and a new market of opportunities to prove the business case for adoption. That’s where we come in and we're to proud to say that this year was our biggest and most impactful year yet. ?? ?? Here's how: ? 5,300+ creative professionals from 90+ countries joined the Creative Climate Hub, aligning their skills and portfolios?with a 1.5 degree future. ?? We launched three educational tools including, the Communicating Climate Change Course, the Ethical Industry Transformation Learning Module and the Anti-Greenwash Guide, reaching an audience of 450,000+ across traditional and social media. ?? The Ethical Agency Alliance scaled 20 agencies across 7 countries and was adopted into the Race to Zero campaign. ?? Over 600 creatives were mobilised through in-person meetups across 10 global cities. ?? We designed new ways to engage creatives in anti-greenwash education, from workshops to live cohorts and immersive creative challenges with partners including ADCE - Art Directors Club of Europe and Clube da Criatividade de Portugal. ? We enhanced our industry influence by taking over the largest Apple Store in London for Earth Day, speaking on stages such as Hollywood Climate Summit and the ADCE - Art Directors Club of Europe, and gained media coverage across over 50 titles including ADWEEK, Campaign UK, Rolling Stone, BBC, PRWeek, CNN, Creativebrief, and more! Wow! For a while now I've spoken to Miranda Massie about what it would look like to have a digital component to The Climate Museum just dreaming and visioning and knowing that getting the work of the museum in more places felt super important. To see this outcome feels like a critical next step and I'm excited to see how the curated "End of Fossil Fuels" Exhibition out in the world will impact the world. Really proud that The Carmack Collective with Jessie Bluedorn's leadership was able to support Climate Museum this year. Hoping more funders will look to partner with Climate Museum in their continued work.
