There is no way to thank our veterans for everything they sacrifice for our freedom, but on Veterans Day, we honor their service. Thank you to all veterans —especially those gold star families who made the ultimate sacrifice — for bravely doing what you're called to do so we can safely do what we're free to do. Wishing you and your loved ones a happy, safe and peaceful Veteran’s Day on Monday, November 11. #veterans #veteransday #militaryveterans #veteran #military

For Domestic Violence Awareness Month, TCA is encourages everyone to recognize the National Call for Unity — an opportunity for “Connective Action” around the DVAM 2024 theme — Heal, Hold & Center. This is an intentional pause and moment of recognition and togetherness for advocates and survivors across the country. HOLD To hold space is to be physically, mentally, and emotionally present for others. It is to listen respectfully, without judgement, so that others may feel cared for, understood, and seen. Holding space is simple, yet offers a powerful antidote to invisibility and isolation. Holding someone is an act of caring that can come in many forms beyond physical touch. October is a “Down Syndrome Awareness Month,” or “DSAM,” and is an opportunity to raise awareness and celebrate the many abilities of our loved ones with Down syndrome. DSAM seeks to break down barriers and focus on promoting advocacy for people with Down syndrome. Down syndrome occurs when an individual has a full or partial copy of the 21st chromosome. Typically developing individuals have two copies of the 21st chromosome, individuals with Down syndrome have three copies. ????°??The cause of the extra or partial chromosome is still unknown. There are three types of Down syndrome ????°??trisomy 21 (nondisjunction) accounts for 95% of cases ????°??translocation accounts for about 4% of cases ????°??mosaicism accounts for about 1% of cases Learn more about Down Syndrome at: https://ndss.org/ Our Members who provide Developmental Services include: Advocates? The theme for Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2024 is Heal, Hold & Center. During Domestic Violence Awareness Month and beyond, it is critical that we all work together, embrace the many cultural ways we can HEAL from violence and oppression, commit to holding space for survivors, and center those most marginalized in all of our efforts to end domestic violence. Healing is an important component of our work to address domestic violence. It is necessary for those who experience harm and those who cause harm, as both may be part of each of our lived experiences. It can and should look different for each of us, depending on our unique cultural backgrounds, values, and beliefs. The theme invites us to widen our embrace, including seniors and others we may not reach.
