On September 26, 2024, Invest for Impact Nepal (IIN) and the Nepal Bankers' Association (NBA) successfully hosted a groundbreaking seminar aimed at integrating Climate Finance and Green Finance Taxonomy into Nepal’s banking industry. The event featured distinguished guests, including Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari, Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank; H.E. Dr. Danielle Meuwly, Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal; and Mr. Michael Jongeneel, CEO of FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank. Over 200 representatives from regulatory bodies, commercial and development banks, development finance institutions, and key development partners participated in this important dialogue. A pivotal highlight of the seminar was the launch of the Sustainable Finance Department at the NBA, designed to guide Nepal’s banking sector toward a low-carbon, greener, and more resilient economy. The seminar was anchored on an insightful keynote presentation by Ms. Yulanda C. from IBIS Consulting. Her discussion covered critical topics such as climate risks, effective management strategies within the banking sector, climate opportunities for Nepal, and an overview of the nation’s green taxonomy.
