Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community traces its roots to 1908, when church leaders and congregations of the Southern Pennsylvania District of the Church of the Brethren bought a farmhouse near Carlisle, PA, and founded the Brethren Home for the Aged at Huntsdale. That small facility operated successfully for more than 40 years until the house was destroyed by fire in 1951. Fortunately, all residents and staff escaped the blaze. Responding to this adversity, the Brethren Home’s trustees decided to purchase the Cross Keys Hotel near New Oxford and relocate to this larger building. The new facility opened on October 20, 1952, and soon was serving twice as many residents as had been at Huntsdale. The old hotel building was razed in the 1970s, and the Brethren Home evolved into a modern continuing care retirement community, offering nursing care, sub-acute rehabilitation services, adult day services, personal care, and independent retirement living. In our more than 50 years at Cross Keys, our campus has grown from 19 acres to more than 330 acres. Much of the new space is devoted to residential housing for more than 800 villagers who live in cottages, country homes, and apartments of various sizes. In 2006 we changed our name to Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community, reflecting our leadership as a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community. Cross Keys Village is one of the largest stand-alone non-profit communities in the country, and the largest in Pennsylvania. We have become a premier provider of Memory Care services and education, and we were at the vanguard of the York/Adams Dementia Friendly America project. Throughout the years and all of our changes, we have kept the accent on Christian love and community. The Board of Directors of Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community has completed its extensive search process and is pleased to announce the appointment of Beverly Asper as the organization’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective December 2, 2024. Beverly has dedicated her 35-year career to the aging services field. A strategic and innovative leader, Beverly has collaborated with numerous boards, executives, clinical and operations teams over her career to cast vision, inspire innovation, and create the future of aging services. She is passionate about creating strong and vibrant communities that promote wellness and vitality for residents and team members. Most recently, she served as a Director for Baker Tilly Advisory Group’s National Healthcare Practice, where she led strategic planning, affiliation support, market research, and project development for aging services providers. Beverly is also a nationally recognized speaker at LeadingAge National, LeadingAge state affiliates, faith related associations, and other related industry associations. Beverly received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and will complete her Master of Arts in Executive Leadership from Liberty University this year. Beverly and her family currently reside in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Beverly’s strong background in mission advancement, strategic planning, vision casting, governance and organizational behavior, financial sustainability initiatives, innovation and growth has prepared her well for her new leadership role at Cross Keys Village.?Please join us in welcoming Beverly as our new Chief Executive Officer.

What an amazing time we had at our third annual Team Member Picnic on Wednesday. The weather was perfect, the setting was beautiful, and the food provided by La Cucina Catering was delicious. It was great to see so many relax, unwind, and spend time together. Whether you were soaking up the sun or just enjoying the food, the day was filled with laughter and good vibes.
