It's about the angle. And the timing. And the incredible work – calculated, precise, and safe. Our Creative Manager, Shaun Hudson, was at the right place at the right time to capture this incredible image. It was recently chosen as a top photo in the Engineering News-Record Year in Construction Photo Contest.

Branch crews are working to rebuild the roads of North Carolina that Hurricane Helene washed out in September. There is YEARS of work and billions in damage. Still working on an emergency basis, they’re placing hundreds of thousands of tons of rock and earth that washed down the river to restore access to the area. Many people’s homes are gone, and power and water are still hard to come by. The first responders rightly get much of the credit, but it’s on the Dirt World to do the heavy lifting when disaster strikes.

Together, we’ll rebuild Western North Carolina. Thank you to the Carolinas AGC for putting the spotlight on the collective efforts of the contractors working to restore and rebuild our mountain towns.
🚧 Rebuilding with Strength and Purpose 🚧 Carolinas AGC President and CEO Dave Simpson, shares the incredible resilience of members like John Anglin, who have been leading recovery efforts in Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. “When disaster strikes, people first look to law enforcement and rescue teams. Then they turn to the men and women on yellow iron—construction professionals—to clear the roads and rebuild their communities,” says Anglin, a proud CAGC Member and father of four. John, alongside many others, has been tirelessly rebuilding roads, water systems, businesses, and churches with unwavering determination. As he puts it, “If we gave up on rebuilding places like Chimney Rock, that would mean we lost. We are mountain people.” To all who ride the yellow iron: Thank you for making the most of the toughest times.
