The Brain institute of America, LLC was formed in 2017 with the goal of developing biomarkers for brain diseases and brain cancer. Our goal is to develop effective biomarkers for those with chronic brain disorders including brain cancer. We specifically focus on noncoding RNAs, a type of molecule that operates by regulating gene function. We have identified several noncoding RNAs that are highly expressed in brain tissue, and we want to pursue those entities for biomarker development.

Tips for Stroke Prevention Strokes are the 5th leading cause of death in the United States and a leading cause of long-term disability. It can happen to anyone at any given time. An important aspect of preventing a stroke relies on the daily choices that we make and the lifestyle that we adopt. By choosing a healthy lifestyle and controlling for the health conditions that raise the risk of a stroke, you can help prevent it. The CDC suggests the following prevention steps: Diet: Make sure to eat foods low in saturated fats, trans fat, and cholesterol and high in fiber, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. This will help prevent high cholesterol, which is a risk factor for a stroke. Limiting salt in your diet can also lower your blood pressure, another risk factor. Medical checks: You should get your cholesterol levels tested at least once every 5 years to detect if you are within the recommended levels. Similarly, it would help if you controlled your blood pressure often. If you have high pressure, your doctor might prescribe some medicines or suggest changes in your lifestyle. Taking care of this might help reduce the risk of stroke. If you have diabetes or some heart disease, you should also follow the proper treatment to reduce the likelihood of experiencing a stroke. Get regular physical activity: Physical activity can help lower your cholesterol and blood pressure levels. It can also help you stay within your recommended weight. Limit alcohol and smoking: Smoking cigarettes might increase the risk of a stroke, and excess alcohol could do it as well since it increases blood pressure.
