March is Women's History Month! We are excited to celebrate women-influenced projects all month long! The Cathy Novinger Girl Scouts Leadership Center offers spaces for activities related to the Girl Scout pillars: Outdoors, STEM, Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship. Cathy Novinger, for which the Leadership Center is named, was a trailblazer in the midlands, serving on many boards and groups dedicated to improving her community. Founder of the Ovarian Cancer Coalition of Central SC, Cathy used her own battle against ovarian cancer to educate women about the disease. Both Cathy and the Girl Scouts Leadership Center are an inspiration and testament to the incredible things girls can achieve! March is Women's History Month! We are excited to celebrate women-influenced projects all month long! BOUDREAUX recently finished the historic rehabilitation of the Taylor House Mansion for University of South Carolina. Previous owner, Anna Heyward Taylor was a revered painter and printmaker who explored and touched the world with her advocacy for art. She and her family gave back to Columbia in many ways, gifting the Taylor House, once owned by her brother, to the city to promote events and art workshops. When the house became the Columbia Museum of Art, the location hosted her first solo art exhibition in 1950. The Taylor House now serves as the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law Admissions Offices.

GROUNDBREAKING CELEBRATION! Last week marked an exciting milestone for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine as they broke ground on their new 300,000-SF interdisciplinary education and biomedical research facility in The BullStreet District. University of South Carolina’s new School of Medicine Columbia is an ambitious public-private partnership initiative that will develop a modern, state-of-the-art facility, focusing on timely and cost-effective delivery while fostering innovation and collaboration in biomedical education and research.?The building will feature cutting-edge classrooms, medical simulation spaces, a health sciences library, interdisciplinary research labs, and collaborative learning environments. The team has been connecting with stakeholders and engaging the broader community to foster a collaborative approach that will create a positive impact on the community and help achieve a shared vision. BOUDREAUX serves as the lead architect working with The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) while Gilbane Development Company led teams throughout the entire process. February is Black History Month! Today we are celebrating the inspirational Ernest A. Finney, Jr. The Ernest A. Finney, Jr. Cultural Arts Center earns it's namesake from Ernest. A Finney, Jr., a South Carolina civil rights attorney, who's 50+ year law career is highlighted by his service as Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court. This Arts Center, which will include a performance hall, exhibit space, studio space, and outdoor event lawn, honors Finney not only for his service and dedication to equality in South Carolina, but also his belief in the arts' ability to bring people together.

Today marks an exciting milestone for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine as they break ground on their new 300,000-SF interdisciplinary education and biomedical research facility in Columbia’s flourishing BullStreet District. This state-of-the-art building will feature cutting-edge education, including a simulated hospital and clinic, a dedicated home for the Ultrasound Institute, active learning classrooms, human structures, student commons, study and collaboration spaces, a research wing with specialty labs, interdisciplinary wet and dry research labs, additional support spaces, and a café. This expansion will help shape the future of medical education while supporting South Carolina’s growing need for health professionals and researchers. SLAM, the design architect, collaborated with local architecture firm, BOUDREAUX, while Gilbane Development Company led teams throughout the entire process. Other key team members in this highly cooperative project include construction manager, Cummings, construction manager and minority business, Brownstone, development consultant and minority- and women-owned business, Restoration 52 LLC, and laboratory programmer and planner, Research Facilities Design (RFD).
