Cohort 1 of the Blues Charitable Trust’s 2025 programme kicked off this week with impact ?? 118 rangatahi from 11 Auckland schools stepped into a BCT experience at The Blues HQ that blends leadership, career exploration, wellbeing, and personal growth - all through the high-performance environment we offer. At the heart of BCT is a simple yet powerful purpose: "Empowering rangatahi to make good choices for great lives." Over the next four weeks, this cohort will gain in-person insights that challenge, inspire, and equip them with the confidence and skills to navigate their future - whether in professional sport, business, medicine, engineering, the arts, or beyond. Some are still exploring, and that’s exactly what this experience is about - opening doors, planting ideas, and helping them see what’s possible. And this is just the beginning. Two more cohorts will follow, giving even more rangatahi the opportunity to be part of this journey. Beyond their time at Blues HQ, they’ll stay connected through a mid-year cohort reengagement, receive 12 months of ongoing online support and mentorship, and have access to future opportunities for scholarships and employment introductions. None of this would be possible without the vision and leadership of our captain, Patrick Tuipulotu, who saw the potential for our players to be part of something bigger than rugby - a legacy that extends beyond the game. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, especially PJ Sheck, Ben Ake, James Mullan, Cole Forbes, Sam Darry, and Anton Segner who spoke directly with the students this week, offering an authentic look at what it takes to succeed. A special thanks also to CEO Andrew Hore and Head of Partnership Relations Katie Smith for welcoming this cohort to Blues HQ, demonstrating how leadership happens both on and off the field at The Blues. Through the season, Blues players, staff, and mentors will continue to volunteer their time to BCT - sharing their journeys in person, through video interviews, or by welcoming students into our HQ, reinforcing what we live by: People Matter. Connections Matter. Excellence Matters. This mahi is driven by Rob Woodley ONZM, alongside Rose-Marie Nathan and Harrison Sanders, whose commitment to designing and delivering this programme ensures BCT continues to empower future leaders. We’re proud to stand alongside BCT’s unique work, giving rangatahi the tools to navigate their own paths with confidence and purpose. Want to be part of this journey? Get in touch with Rob or Rosey to support rangatahi through BCT via partnership or donation, or help BCT expand opportunities for young people with entry-level roles. #leadership #careerpathways #mentorship #futureleaders #bluepride #wearetheblues #blueeverywhere #education #sportsdevelopment #rangatahi #growthmindset #community

At The Blues, we stand by three guiding principles: People Matter, Connections Matter, and Excellence Matters. These values shape everything we do, on and off the field, and they continue to guide the important work led by Rob Woodley ONZM, with support from Rose-Marie Nathan and Harrison Sanders, for the Blues Charitable Trust (BCT). BCT is dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for rangatahi across Tāmaki Makaurau and beyond in our region, focusing on students in the middle cohort - those who don’t qualify for additional support or enjoy the same access as high-achieving peers, and therefore face challenges in accessing resources and pathways. BCT’s mission has reached an exciting new milestone thanks to a new initiative, with sustainability and community in mind, with 2degrees. 2degrees has generously donated devices that will directly support students who lack access to technology at workshops, ensuring every young person can fully participate and engage without barriers. As we know in today’s professional world, connectivity isn’t just a convenience; it’s fundamental to opportunity and success - which makes this partnership so powerful. In addition, 2degrees have also donated separate devices for BCT’s in-person giving initiatives that will kick off at Eden Park, New Zealand home games in 2025, in collaboration with the MIKA GivingApp - extending the opportunity for our communities to support BCT’s mahi and reach even more deserving young people. 2degrees has always committed to fighting for fair, and this collaboration reflects that commitment in action. By bridging the digital divide, they’re helping equip BCT students with tools that can positively influence their leadership education, as well as future pathways in higher education and careers. If your organisation shares a passion for equity, inclusion, community, and talent development, we invite you to join BCT in this meaningful mahi. By partnering, you can help grow diverse talent pipelines and bridge the gap between school and the real world, creating a lasting impact on the next generation. Together, we can unlock potential and build brighter futures by putting people first, forging meaningful connections, and constantly striving for excellence. A massive thank you to Justine Gabriel and Anna Gorman at 2degrees for their generosity and leadership, and to Katie Smith from our own Blues team for making the connection. If your organisation is interested in getting involved, please reach out - the BCT team would love to share more with you. #EmpoweringRangatahi #SocialImpact #Sustainability #DigitalEquity #BluesCharitableTrust #2degrees #PeopleMatter #ConnectionsMatter #ExcellenceMatters #TalentPipeline #CommunityImpact
