Heads up on an auditor's view of your organisation before even meeting you. Yes we often think #auditors meet us and go through paperwork and ask random questions. This is highly misread and understood. Make no mistake, nothing is random and nothing is overlooked and it can start at your reception or even on entering the car park! Without giving our trade secrets way, when we audit one sure way to know that you are not compliant nor update to date with your policies, procedures and quality of management is to look in reception. We don't have to look far as you already show us on your walls. Yes those certificates you display for your organisation registration, your insurance certificates and your health and safety policies. We simply go to them and check the dates. if you can't keep three pieces of paper up to date, what can you be trusted with, right? OK after that a quick shimmy aroubd to see the state of the place. Is it organised? Is it tidy? Says another about the management style. Interacting with the receptionist... Do they know your arriving? Do they know who you are and where your from? Can anyone just roll into your business, with no security check? Is there a vistors book? When signing in I love to see whose been in and how long ago they were in, but never checked out? Yes, do you let people sign in, and never leave? How do you know they've actually left? And of course, how courteous, polite and professional the receptionist is tells us everything about tje management style. Are they bullies here? Do they communicate with their staff? How they communicate with me is a great indicator.. How they manage gives me a guage on what resistance I'll be during the audit.
