  • Freight chaos is real, but your logistics strategy doesn’t have to be. Between port congestion, rising costs, and capacity constraints, businesses that don’t have a plan for flexibility will feel the squeeze. The key? Optimize across truck, air, rail, and ocean choices while leveraging real-time tracking and transloading solutions. Stay ahead of the chaos! Is your supply chain built for resilience in 2025?

  • ???? The Block Logistics is proud to be an ambassador for the Protecting Blue Whales & Blue Skies Program. As part of our commitment to sustainability,?92% of our 2024 shipments into West Coast ports were transported by shipping lines actively participating in the BWBS program—supporting cleaner air and safer waters for marine life. For those interested in learning more about how voluntary industry efforts are helping protect endangered whales and air quality in California, see here:?https://lnkd.in/dfczT5bg. Highlights of the 2024 Season environmental benefits include: ?? 50% reduction?in the risk of fatal ship strikes to whales ?? 38% decrease?in underwater noise (or 4.1 decibels) ?? 1,405 tons?of NOx emissions avoided—equivalent to removing?900,000 cars?from the road for a year ?? Nearly 50,000 metric tons?of greenhouse gas emissions avoided Over the past decade, the program has resulted in?1,596,008 nautical miles?of "whale-safer" (reduced speeds to 10 knots or less) transits. By working together, we’re making a difference—one shipment at a time. Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies Program

Results are in for the (10th annual) VSR Season of Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies! Highlights of the environmental impact of the 2024 Season (and what happens when?*743 vessels* travel a total of 425,981 nautical miles at "whale-safer" reduced speeds of 10 knots or less): ?? ?50.1% lower strike mortality risk to #whales; ?? Underwater #noise reduced by 38% (or 4.1 decibels); ?? 1,405 tons of (smog-forming) NOx emissions avoided, the equivalent of taking 900,000 cars off the road for a year; and ?? 49,945 metric tons of regional greenhouse gas #emissions avoided (27% reductions from baseline). *Thank you* to our participating #shipping lines for their leadership in helping to protect endangered whales and coastal #airquality,?and to our program ambassadors who ship with these lines and help grow awareness around supply chain opportunities to protect #biodiversity and coastal communities. ?? ?https://lnkd.in/dfczT5bg Season information, including links to full research reports: https://lnkd.in/gQ_265Kc ?? 2024 Sapphire Lines: CMA CGM; Connaught Shipmanagement HK; COSCO SHIPPING (North America) Inc. • The holiday rush might be over, but supply chain congestion lingers well into Q1. Companies that don’t adapt fast will feel the ripple effects for months. The keys to stay ahead: ?? Evaluate where delays happened last quarter and adjust strategies. ?? Adapt with transloading and direct drayage to bypass bottlenecks. ?? Streamline real-time tracking and warehousing to keep freight moving. Supply chains don’t fix themselves—smart adjustments now prevent expensive problems later.

    • Infographic showing three strategies to avoid post-holiday freight congestion: evaluating past delays, adapting with drayage and transloading, and streamlining operations with tracking and warehousing.
  • ???Trade Policy Update: Major Tariff Changes Ahead Here’s what’s changing: ???Every country?will now face?25% tariffs?on steel (Chapter 73) and aluminum (Chapter 76) products. ?? These tariffs?also apply to products containing steel or aluminum components, even if classified under different chapters. ???No duty drawbacks?will be available for these tariffs. • Freight costs keep rising, but do you know where your money actually goes? It’s not just the base shipping rate. The real expenses are hidden in fuel, labor, and inefficiencies that drain your budget. A breakdown of key cost drivers: -Fuel prices continue to dominate operating expenses. -Labor costs are surging due to demand and driver shortages. -Equipment maintenance and rentals add up fast. -Tolls, admin fees, and insurance quietly eat into margins. Knowing where your dollars go is the first step to cutting costs. Are you paying too much?

    • Pie chart illustrating the cost breakdown of freight expenses in 2025, including fuel, labor, equipment, administrative costs, insurance, and tolls.
  • Shipping isn’t just about getting from A to B. How you move freight directly impacts costs, efficiency, and reliability. Here’s why FTL is the smart choice for high-volume shipments: ? No mixed freight minimizes risk of contamination or loss. ? Strategic loading cuts handling time and speeds up unloading. ? Simplified compliance for industries with strict transport regulations. ? Guaranteed capacity ensures shipments move on time, even in peak seasons.

    • Infographic outlining the benefits of Full Truckload (FTL) shipping, including reduced freight mixing, strategic load planning, simplified compliance, and guaranteed capacity.
  • Shipments don’t just “move” — they either flow efficiently or hit roadblocks. Every successful delivery starts with a strong first mile. Without it, delays, congestion, and extra fees pile up. Here’s what keeps the first mile running smoothly: 1. Faster port processing prevents dwell time backups. 2. Optimized drayage routes eliminate inefficiencies. 3. Warehouse coordination ensures smooth cargo transfers. 4. Real-time tracking stops issues before they start. Can your first mile set you up for success?

    • Infographic visualizing the four key factors of a strong first-mile logistics strategy: reducing port dwell times, optimizing drayage routes, improving warehouse handoffs, and increasing real-time visibility.
  • ?? Update: Tariffs on Imports from China, Mexico, and Canada The Trump Administration's latest Executive Orders introduce updated tariffs on imports from China, Mexico, and Canada, taking effect at 12:01 AM on February 4, 2025. What You Need to Know ?? China Tariffs - A 10% tariff applies to all imports from China (including Hong Kong), with limited exceptions. - Shipments in transit before February 1, 2025, may qualify for an exemption if they enter before March 7, 2025, and meet specific certification requirements (HTSUS heading 9903.01.23). - The de minimus exemption ($800 duty-free threshold) is suspended for Chinese imports. All low-value shipments will now be subject to tariffs. - These tariffs stack on top of existing duties, antidumping, and countervailing fees. ?? Mexico & Canada Tariffs - All products from Mexico and Canada are now subject to additional tariffs, except for Canadian oil and gas, which will be taxed at 10%. - There is no confirmed exemption process yet, meaning shipments from these countries will likely incur the additional tariffs immediately. - Uncertainty remains around goods already in transit - CBP has not provided clear guidance on whether these will be taxed retroactively. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) may not have its tariff programming in place by the effective date, meaning duties may be delayed at the time of entry but will be required retroactively once CBP updates its systems. Our team is actively monitoring these tariff changes and their potential impact on supply chains, costs, and trade flows. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have concerns about your shipments, tariff exemptions, or customs compliance. We'll continue to provide updates as more information emerges. Proactive planning is key - let's work together to keep your supply chain moving efficiently. #LogistisUnusual #Tariffs #InternationalTrade #CustomsUpdates
