Best advice for starting a nonprofit? A friend asked me this after attending our first event at YIPE (Youth Innovation and Professional Empowerment). I hesitated a lot before answering After all I’m just starting out on this journey Here’s what I shared: Forget the term “nonprofit.” It’s really just a label. A nonprofit without purpose is just paperwork. Instead, think of it as a gift you’re giving to the world. Because that’s what it is at its core Then find people who believe in your gift too. It’s easy to overthink things. Sometimes, a simple gathering or a group chat is all it takes to kick off your movement. When you just start to build a community, you create trust and connection. That’s where real change happens. Purpose first. People first . Those are the two p’s that matter - Not perfection .
