Four Oregon State University proposed projects have been awarded grants by the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC). The Oregon Workforce Ready Grant awards were given to 62 projects across the state that prioritize underserved and marginalized communities, awarding approximately $42 million. Oregon State projects are set to receive more than $3.3 million of that support. The grants in healthcare, manufacturing and technology support collaborative programs that center the needs of Oregon’s underserved communities and connect individuals to resources for pursuing good-paying jobs and meaningful careers in key sectors of Oregon’s economy. It was inspiring to hear incoming students, like Violet, discover a potential future in the semiconductor industry. This was part of the first ever CHIPS Lab at Oregon State University. In partnership with the?California Pacific Northwest AI Hardware Hub and with support from industry partners, including Micron Technology, the lab offered educational experiences designed to introduce incoming engineering students to the basic knowledge and skills necessary for a career in semiconductors. Enrollment at Oregon State University has reached a record for the 28th consecutive year, nearing 38,000 students this fall. Among 108 Public Research 1 universities in America, only Oregon State has produced 28 consecutive years of fall-over-fall enrollment growth.
