As #WICWeek draws to a close, we reflect on the inspiring week of leadership development and community engagement as our team attended informative, encouraging, and positive events not only for the construction industry but also events in our local business community. Our own Jennifer Sawyer sits on the board of Kalamazoo Women2Women and this week’s presentation was Lead with Impact: Harness Leadership and Influence to Inspire Action. Wednesday we joined NAWIC Grand Rapids - Chapter 194 and heard from a panelist of inspiring #WomenInConstruction on their experiences in leadership and navigating career challenges. Thursday at Women in Networking Kalamazoo we heard advice on financial planning and got some resources on leadership development. Capping our week at the annual Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan Cookie Bake-Off Benefit where Amelia Barker-King, Realtor chairs the committee. TBG was honored to be a sponsor this year. Collaborating with women in our community and industry this week has empowered us to grow, engage, support, and succeed together. Give a big #WICWeek #Welcome Wednesday to TBG’s newest team member, Holly Hickman! Holly joined the team in January and jumped in feet first. Having grown up in the trades, maintaining and renovating property with her family, she took a job in 2017 for a local contractor. Since then, she has held roles in office and project management with experience in field coordination, scheduling, sales and estimating, business development, and client management. What better way to welcome her than during WIC Week! “I am looking forward to continuing breaking barriers at my workplace that is 100% woman owned and operated. Expanding my skills by learning new technologies, creating processes and advancing my expertise. Today we got to celebrate a significant project milestone as the crew placed this bank vault door from the original 1873 building! This will become an amazing design installation in the new space. Thanks to all our project partners who made this happen! When this beauty was first uncovered in early 2023, John Carmichael had the vision to make it a focal point somehow. From careful demolition, design and fabrication of the frame for the door to set in while it was stored and waiting for install. A careful plan was put into place to get the door inside and set on its thickened footings. The crew loaded up first thing this morning and headed to Sturgis! With careful rigging this piece of history is in its new home.
