OUR MISSION The Association of Black Psychologists sees its mission and destiny as the liberation of the African Mind, empowerment of the African Character, and enlivenment and illumination of the African Spirit. THE PURPOSE OF THE ASSOCIATION The Association is organized to operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including but not limited to: promoting and advancing the profession of African Psychology, influencing and affecting social change, and developing programs whereby psychologists of African descent (hereafter known as Black Psychologists) can assist in solving problems of Black communities and other ethnic groups.

  • We Are Excited To Announce The CABP Foundation Course? 2025. Be part of this powerful movement! — Coming Soon. ??https://abpsi.org/CABP/ The Association of Black Psychologists’ (ABPsi) Certification in African/Black Psychology (CABP?) is the actualization of the science of African/Black Psychology in praxis. Grounded in African science, the five-module CABP? Foundational Course offers participants a comprehensive introduction to the essential principles, theories, and practices of African/Black Psychology. This course serves as both a foundational learning experience and a pathway to deeper engagement with African-centered psychological practices. Professionals who continue and earn a CABP? Certification have met ABPsi’s rigorous standards, demonstrating the skills, knowledge, and abilities required for proficiency in African-centered psychology. This certification endorses their capacity to apply culturally appropriate African-centered practices in areas such as knowledge and knowledge production, community revitalization, restorative practices, and dissemination and application of the science of African/Black psychology. What to Expect: ??A curriculum designed to provide the foundational knowledge essential toward obtaining a Certification in African/Black Psychology (CABP)?. ??The instructional methods will incorporate didactic and experiential processes. ??Participants will be able to identify the multiple tools and technologies for restoration. ??Participants will discuss how to integrate the various tools and technologies into their work with African communities. ??Begin to develop techniques which emanate from the essence of Afrikan peoples being. ??CABP praxis is driven by the “wisdom traditions” (philosophies) throughout Africa. This is more than a course—it is a journey toward truth, connection, and empowerment.
