The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s first-ever National Strategy for Financial Inclusion is a remarkable step forward! Congratulations to all at the Aspen Institute and our partners who showed tremendous leadership and spent countless hours, days, months, and years in service of bringing to life an ambitious plan for a more inclusive economy!
We are excited by the release of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s first-ever National Strategy for Financial Inclusion! ?? ?? Years in the making, with the input and support of a broad cross-section of leaders, this landmark strategy is an important step in ensuring a robust and inclusive financial system for all people in America. This bold plan will help families and businesses achieve short-term stability and build long-term financial security. As conveners of the Working Group on Inclusive Finance, Aspen FSP is proud to have played a role in bringing this strategy to life. In the words of FSP’s co-executive director Ida Rademacher: “Having the highest level of government launch a strategy this robust–with national objectives, priorities, and action steps laid out–signals its vital importance to American households and increases our momentum toward building a financial system that fosters greater trust and works for everyone.” Working across five key objectives, the strategy will help ensure that every person in America has equitable access to affordable and tailored transaction accounts, safe and affordable credit, savings and investments, government-backed financial services, and protection from illegal and predatory practices. Alongside our partners, we’re eager to get to work to help implement this shared vision and realize the strategy’s full impact for future generations! Vice President at The Aspen Institute | Executive Director for Ascend at The Aspen Institute | Co-Chair, Aspen Institute Forum on Women and Girls
Last week’s election results will forge new government priorities at every level: but what do the voting trends driving these changes tell us about the future of a two-generation (2Gen) approach to family prosperity? The answer to this question will empower us to find common ground and shape a pragmatic way forward in policy, practice, and in future-proofing the #2GenApproach. ? During every presidential and midterm #election cycle since 2012, Ascend at the Aspen Institute has partnered with bipartisan pollsters to survey voter attitudes about support for a 2Gen approach to family prosperity and expectations for new leaders to improve outcomes for parents and children. ? Join me for a bipartisan webinar,?"Public Support for the 2Gen Approach: Exit Polling Illuminates Common Ground to Support Families"?with pollsters Celinda Lake, Principal at Lake Research Partners; Brian Nienaber, Vice President at The Tarrance Group; and Tameka Henry, Ascend Parent Advisor, Founder at The Obodo Collective, and Clark County School Board Trustee Elect.? ? On November 21st?from 4:00 – 5:00p.m. ET, you can learn more about these important findings and where the 2Gen approach offers new leaders with opportunities to find common ground for families.
